Default Escort MK3 dashboard

My Mk3 Escort is suffering very badly with cracks from the heat. I'm having trouble getting hold of a replacement, but have been offered one from a RS Turbo (which i'm told has a voltage clock in it). Is this the only difference. If so, will it still go in my Ghia.

Ghia dashes are usually two tone, (light and dark grey etc..)
RS and XR are all dark grey.

Same guages in them as standard.... also it won't match your centre console, but that's easily swapped.

Thanks Ade. It turns out the replacement is just as cracked as mine is i'll have to keep on waiting. I'm not too concerned about the colours matching, just the fitment. Mine is currently dark grey / light grey, so all dark grey will be fine. I'll make sure to pick up the console at the same time if I can find one.

Used to be dead easy to get the Ghia/GL two-tone dashes but they might be ever harder to find now that the non sporting MK3 Escorts are as good as extinct!

Good luck anyway!

i've started to take my old one out this afternoon to see if I can repair it somehow with filler and respray it. I'm stuck trying to disconnect the instruments wiring though. If it's beyond repair i'll have to get some sort of replacement. Not fussy what spec Mk3 it comes from.

i'm going to try to patch up the one I have. I've spent a little while detatching it from the car to try to fill the cracks with a sealer. The only problem will be to colour match the filler to the dash. As it's a vinyl covered dash I should be able to use a grey boot polish. Hopefully get some more time on it at the weekend.
I'm near Peterborough by the way.

no mate. I got all the way to the point of trying to take the steering column out to get the dash out but couldn't do it so had to put it all back together again still cracked. I then tried to fill the cracks with filler and attempt to polish the filler to a similar colour to the dash but that was no good either. It's a shame as it really lets the car down.

I don't have this mk3 anymore, but it was the two tone grey one though. These are so hard to get hold of, and seem to be prices at about £250 when they do come up.

i have seen new old stock one's go for £1000 i have repaired them before though.
i used plastic bumper filler to allow for flexing but for me they never look the same once you have painted them. A couple cracks is nothing just expected or get a 1.1 / 1.3 litre solid plastic one.
