Default JUST GOT THIS EMAIL FROM GREENLIGHT

Email green light last night for a quote to insure my m3 evo and this is what i get back today

Dear Mr stuart christie

We thank you for taking the time to complete an online quotation enquiry.

Unfortunately the details entered into the system do not fit the required
criteria for our specialist schemes.

However, if the vehicle is standard or only has a few minor modifications, we
would recommend that you contact A Quote on 0800 298 2836 who should be able to
provide a competitive quotation for you.

Additional Information:
We no longer quote for E36 BMW M3s due to our bad claims experience on this
model (Numerous single vehicle and loss of control accidents)

Sorry we are unable to help.

Greenlight Insurance

so how the hell will i insure my 460 bhp 3dr

Whilst a bad thing for you I can see their point. A load of younger lads round my way have older beema's Like a 328 and a 323. Both of them have slammed the fookers into kerbs and kanckered the underneath of them. I guess its the rear wheel drive thing and lack of driving experience. Not that I'm assuming your a crap driver.

Just saying chip,it is a sad day when the m is a worse risk to insure than a 3dr cossie, find the m a lot safer car to drive, but then i have driven rwd for the last 20 yrs, must also prove with the recent price drop in m3's that all the chav's have, are effecting the insurance

HIC would not cover me on the Cossie, even tho' i was with them before. I have owned Cossies for 12 years now and only had 1 claim through theft in 1999, and i moved house straight away because of it. I had to go with Adrian Flux in the end

Although HIC did a wicked job on my Series 1 I must admit they fucked up the Cossie!

They would quote me on a modded Escort Cos but wouldn't cover me on a 2wd Saph!

Hi all,

I apologise if we were unable to assist, we did advise the areas that we couldnt help with before, but it's been a while and things do seem to go in cycles.

Vehicle wise we dont currently cover the following:

BMW M3 (E-36 model only) - RHD UK E30 + E46 are ok
Ford Sierra RS500
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO models
Nissan 200 models
Renault Clio 172 "Cup" (non-ABS) model
Japanese imported vehicles
Basic, non-performance vehicles

As you can see most vehicles excluded are not ford models, thus our PF affiliation.

Other vehicle makes/models
Whilst we are able to entertain other performance models/makes and will help you wherever possible. We have been dealing with and are allied to Passion Ford for the last 4-5 years to attract and handle Ford business (ie. we do not purposefully come here to PF to attract Nissan 200 or other excluded models).

RS500
The only performance ford exclusion is the RS500, which was excluded through our extremely poor historic claims performance. Bearing in mind the rarety of this model, hopefully this does not inconvenience the PF membership at large too much and we still can help the lions share of you.

The only way that we could entertain the RS500 is by subsidy (ie. loading everyone else's policy) or charging astronomical premiums to reflect the risk. Neither of which are a sustainable strategy.

Risk profiles
Risk profile wise, to remain competitive for the long term our Underwriters insist upon certain acceptance criteria (ie. Age 21+, Min 1 YR NCB, Full License 12m+, some postcodes excluded) which ensures a decent scheme performance but can sometimes impact upon our availability.

Modifications
Modification wise, we have decent technical knowledge and cover pretty much anything (from induction kits, remaps/tuning up to & including roll cages + Nitrous oxide) - this on a like for like replacement basis.

If you need any further information, or a quotation for a vehicle that we do cover the best bet would be to either log onto www.greenlightinsurance.com/passion_ford.php or to call our office on 01277 263030.

Kind regards

Tony

Morning Neil,

Nova's arent quite the problem they used to be and are generally owned by enthusiasts these days.

We are able to source cover for performance Vauxhall Nova models (both modified or standard).

So, when your renewal comes up on the Nova - give Greenlight a try.

Kind regards

Tony

Because of their previous history of claims. ie insuring 500's has cost them a lot of cash in the past and not turned out to be financially beneficial

At a guess the 200's have either been not insured with greenlight or not crashed and claimed on, or both so they dont have a poor history

Hi Jacko,

To date the RS200 models (inc replica) havent had the same historic claims experience that we have had with the RS500 - thus we can still cover them.

All excluded profiles (vehicles/postcodes etc) are initially given the benefit of the doubt, then refined or excluded dependent upon 'live' actual claims experience.

Kind regards

Tony

Got to remember guys, insurance companies are businesses that exist to make profit, so you can't really get upset at them for deciding not to cover certain vehicles as that's just the way it works.

In general they seem very good.

Here Here... And I have to say that Greenlight have been able to beat all insurance quotes by around £300 on my Series 1, my Saph Cos and now my Scooby.

Greenlight insured my Scooby for £580 and the best I could get other than that was £800.

So I'm well happy and keep up the good work (by keeping down our premiums!!!)

[Now someone is going to tell me they know a company that'll insure me for twenty quid!!!]

I have to say I applaud Tony at Greenlight for not insuring cars such as the E36 M3

End of the day, they are cheap, and easy to crash. I dont want to pay for that! Most companies have a blanket policy on all tuned cars, so if everyone took this approach, there would be noone left for us cossie boys!

Top job, Tony!

There are plenty of people already insuring the E36. Why have them ruin it for us!

I think they also have a limit of £25K value on the cars as they couldn't quote for the CSL

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind comments guys, we are selective to keep the premiums sensible for the long term.

I do understand that this can upset some people, but this is not meant to be taken personally and is purely based upon past experience by both greenlight and our respective Underwriters. Who take the view that the many shouldn't subsidise the few as this will never work on a long term basis.

Paul - With regard to value, our main Underwriters schemes goes up to £30k now and we are able to source rates from other Underwriters should this ceiling be a problem.

Kind regards

Tony
