Hi guys. Just wondered if anyone knows of an ABS removal guide? Looking to remove the ABS on my mates S2 to fit the rear disc conversion. Cheers fellas

When the ABS has been removed and rear discs fitted, has anyone found it overbrakes on the rear/tries to change ends? heard conflicting stories

 

I think I must be in the minority of having a S2 which still has ABS!

 

Do a search there is millions of threads on ABS removal. Easy enough to do

grey RS, i think the majority would agree with you there. Ive fitted them to my car and done about 2 miles since so i can't comment, but being as mines a hairdressers car and quite arse heavy i doubt ill have problems.

Above all though, i doubt i would fit them again

 

The general consensus is you must put a restriction in the line on the rears, but Tim hasn't on his and you must have seen him on track in his grey s2 at some point - didn't seem to have any problems lol!

 

ps i also don't think they are gonna make a great deal of difference, we will see

 

Ive still got mine and to be honest i dont see a problem with the ABS mine works fine

 

Took mine off as it never really worked properly and made the pedal feel spongy. I never noticed this until i drove an s1 without it

 

Lets get not start picking faults in your car we might never end

grey RS, thats what ive heard generally, i think ill be lucky though the roof weighs a ton lol! Plenty of weight

Mk3 & 4 brakes in general are just rubbish, i'm looking to substantially alter mine one of 2 ways, if i can ever be arsed to pull my finger out

Mines starts and runs, could go drive now if one was to feel so inclined

do u ditch the distrubutor/regulator thingys on the inner wing when u lose the abs..??

Nah you'll need them still, they split the pipes up so you have a pipe for each brake

Removing the rear load valves on the wishbones is a good move though

 

on the to do list... been given a rear disk conversion anyway, mite as well use it!!!
