Hi all I have a 2wd MK6 RS2000 and when driving short distances its an absolutely dream no problems what so ever.

But over long distances, as soon as the engine has warmed up i get a tapping noise from the engine whilst driving and idle.

I have checked and replaced the oil, the chain has been changed about 10,000 miles ago.

The engine has done about 115,000 miles.

Any ideas what it could be.

What oil have you used mate?
I always use Mobil 1 Motorsport 5 - 30w

It could be your tappets or even the cam worn..

 

i had the same problem fella i changed the oil and put some slik 50 in and it cured it fella
