I've just got my grubby little mits on a Gplate RST Cabby, and need to MOT it..

I'm just after a bit of advice on what things they normally fail on so i can put any thing right before it goes in..

rust aint an issue not a spot of the stuff anywhere..

so it's best to get it up on the ramps and have a good fiddle with it then?

 

front and rear tie bar bushes can go. list can go on and on takeit for the mot then tell us what happens

I know u have some rust around the fuel pump! if u haven´t changed it though

My RST cabby had to go back to the MOT station 4 times as the guy that converted it really did a shit job, he changed all the suspension and made a right cowboy job of just about everything. Everytime I took it back they found more things wrong with it. You should spend a day going over yours and making sure that the conversion has been done properly and that things have been connected up properly! I wasn't carged any extra for taking it back so many times (this was before the new mot rules), but it did piss me off that the previous owner had messed it up so badly. After getting it through the mot I have took the car off the road and I'm gonna do a full rebuild and maybe a ZVH conversion so that I know everything will be how I want it and how it should be.

 

It failed.. Bloody thing..

(1) headlights wont adjust up high enough.

(2) one of the gaiters has split cant remember which.

(3) too much play in the steering pivot (apparently)

(4) The big one.. soddin Emissions.. but they wernt too high should be easy enough to sort.

She's now with my mechanic friend fingers crossed he sorts it out. wanna go playing with the roof down..

Oh and i almost forgot . it also had an advisory on the rear shockers..
not that this matters as i'm changing the suspension any how..

i aint to fond of paying insurance on summat i aint driving..
