The only benefit on a road car is the extra bling value
The Grp A / WRC cars had it relocated so its less prone to getting wet when they are going through water splashes etc.
The cam trigger, sensor and sensor holder costs about £120 from Mountune.
You then need to have the inlet cam and the cam cover machined, about £80.
Then you can remove the dizzy and replace it with a billet oil pump drive or just leave the dizzy in place. Billet oil pump drive is about £85-£100.

Engine loom is fine, and its on a Haltech
But there are far more important things to spend money on as you say.... Head, cams, manifold, T61, fitting GTR gearbox to name a few
Getting there slowly but surely though
Tis funny what we all end up doing in the name of 'improvement'!
I always fancied changing mine over for aftermarket management with a more accurate engine speed sensor (a 31tooth job), but to be honest, I think that the L8 is doing a pretty good job so far, and with modern software these days, I havent outgrown it
