Default need ideas for a towcar!!!!

Im looking for a good towcar in the next month or so but unsure what to get. It needs to be able to tow a trailer with car with a gross weight of 2 tonnes. Got to be a dirty diesel and tow 2 ton with ease. Budget up to about 5k or so.

What have you towed with and was it any good???

Ive just got a SWB 2.5td pajero for peanuts which i have just put a new head on which now runs sweet , but im not sure if this is good enough to pull 2T.

What do you think ??

Give me some ideas

there should be a plate in the car or in log book telling you what the car is capable of towing..
