Heated front screen not working??
Looking for help with this on my saf.
Basically just stopped working one day, light on button doesnt light up as it should and it doesnt de mist screen.
Have removed the button to check that out.
Can anyone help with resistances etc.
Im going across pin 1 and 2 and they are open circuit, when the button is pressed you get continuity across them but the second you take your finger off the button it goes open circuit again.
Anyone any ideas on how to propery test the switch or the multiplug on the car?
cheers

Yeah that sounds right, have you checked the fuse? can't remeber if the fuse is in the fusebox or not, have a feeling it's under the passenger side of the dash somewhere towards the centre console.
Have you disconnected the battery? i *think* the heated front screen wires are seperate to the rest of the loom and just has a eyelet that goes onto the battery, so you might have not reconnected that wire?

have loked for fuse under passenger dash and can only see two fuses with two relays..
both look ok.
will go have a look at the battery as its has been off a few times too.
does the switch sound to be ok?

You say it stopped working one day
All i am saying is have you tried it with the engine running as pretty sure you got to have the engine running not just the ignition on
Suppose cos of the "load" it draws, and as already stated the switch is only a signal to the timer relay, but cant remember what colour wires or where it is sorry

Chop..Im not gay like you northen boys
KSA...i cant get any kind of voltage at the switch...DC yeah?
Rapid one...
yeah i have tried it with engine on.
The car has had alot of work done on it recently and it stopped working after this.
realy need to be able to trace the whole circuit i suppose?

Open the bonnet, at the corners where the screen is you will find the wires coming out the screen, follow this, one wire will disappear as this goes to the relay the other is connected to the battery.
had a wee look after work and found a black relay and a grey relay which have wires to them that match the switch and the wires coming from the screen.
How do i check the relays?
I cant any way the wires connect to the battery? they (brown and black/purple) just come down from screen and thru bulkhead.
pics of other people wires would be great

For the windscreen cables brown is negative euan and black/violet is the 12v positive m8,for the power relay the positive is brown/yellow and negative is brown i dont know the colours for the timer relay sorry .
if i can find it i'll dig out the screen loom i've got tucked away somewhere in the garage
it's a stand alone loom and only plugs into the ecu loom to tell it the engines running
if the engine is not running then it won't wrok
but from the sounds of it you haven't got power anywhere which would point to the actually switch being fubar

I checked this morning and you are right the screen wires do vanish into the loom, i thought the heated screen loom was stand-alone to the main loom.
All i can suggest is continunity check between the relay red and the battery.

top man doji!
KSA..so i should have power on the thick red wire all the time when engine running?
12v dc?
james check for continuity to ensure the thick red wire is actually attached to the battery?

well, i've had a good look and what i found even surprised me
here's a list of a quick scout:
3 x 24V granada engine looms
4 x granada cd/tape deck looms
2 x rs2000 engine looms
1 x scorpio 2.3 engine loom
5 x sierra twincam looms
6 x sierra abs looms
3 x granada abs looms
4 x granada heated seat looms
2 x electric sunfoor motors
1 x granada heated screen loom (different ot he sierra one as it goes into the fuse box and is not stand lone
)
more central locking motors than you oculd shake a stick at
more granada electric seat motors than you oculd shake a stick out
about 20 other bits of loom from the granada/sierra range
and various other bits and bobs
anyone fancy a heated seat switch
