Default Lowering my frs

Hi guys, i'v recently been thinking about getting the focus slamed. I would more than likely just be looking at getting springs but im not sure how it will look, and if its going to be worth it. Anyone got any pics of lowered frs'. What are you'r views on this.
cheers

You don't wanna go too low as you're gonna wipe the front out on a speed bump or multi storey ramp. I got H&Rs fitted and it sits about 20 - 25 mm lower but the springs are nice and stiff so theres a lot less roll and hardly any nose dipping under hard braking.

Quite the opposite mate it tightens the handling up a lot. There are camber adjustment kits available to so once lowered get the alignment done properly and the car feels much improved.

I think you can get lower ones, but the 25 mm drop was all I wanted since the roads round here are fucking crap and I'd used the Jamex springs before and liked them

If I ever buy another FRS I'll deffo lower it again with the Jamexs on..

alrity. i,v come to the conclusion that one of my shockers is fooked, so instead of replacing it with std pish, it looks like im heading towards coilovers. For any1 who's done it what kind would u recomend, and how much r we talking.

The two main companies that do coilovers for the FRS are H&R & KW, both retail around £1k inc vat

i had nothing but nightmares with GAZ

ordered a set to be built and they turned up 4 weeks later, bout 4mm too wide to fit in the hub

sent them back and got them redone and when they came back again the anti roll bar and brake pipe brackets were welded in the wrong places so they went back again

was then told id have to wait another 4 weeks for another set to be made for me.

slightly pished off i demanded my money back and got straight on the phone to the UK importers for H&R and had a set on me doorstep 11 days later from germany.

perfect fit and ride. handling is a great specially when mated with camber adjustable top mounts
not had any problems since.

thats twice ive dealt with GAZ. got coilovers for my 1.6 from them and had to send them back as the top mounts wouldnt fit. ended up using spax RSX instead.
im sure if they get their finger out and get parts to fit straight away they will be awesome, just have no faith in them myself.

cheesr guys. frs3409, u'v had nothing but bad luck with Gaz. Just out of intrest, how much were the gaz 1's.
I could do with a set soonish so going to £1k is a bit out of reach the now, so im looking for a compromise.

Default GAZ

Been selling GAZ for some time - dont loads of Focus and Sierra coil-over kits (under £500 delieverd inc vat from me) never had anything but good news.

Race with GAZ stuff myself, its great.

The only thing i would say is that there can be a wait as they do get very busy at times - small company with a great reputation for quality.

Hope this helps

Mike

If you're doing coilovers will be well worthwhile upgrading the rear anti-roll bars to H&R spec items as well as uprate to Powerflex bushes front & rear to make the most of the new setup and handling

Hi Mate,

Do you live in Glasgow?

Was washing the car a couple of weeks ago, and an old guy in a 4x4 asked me if I was "giligan".

I said no, but he said, "he drives one of them too".

I dont plan on using it for the track or anything, so i would see about that kind of stuff at a later date.

What about camber adjustments tho, i dont know much about them.
Are they to increase or decrease the camber? front, back, all round? wot advantages/ disadvantages?

Help me out guys.

alrite guys, i got my Gaz coilovers in yesterday so i had a crack at fitting them. The back seemed to go on ok but the fronts were a different story. All the brackets seemed to be in the right place, but at the bottom of the shoch where it is gripped by the clamping part, thew diameter was decreased to about 45mm when it needs to be more like 50mm, so it was a no go. I know the guy i got them from sold a few more of the same kits the same day as me, im just wondering if anyone else has had this problem yet.

sounds like you have been sent the wrong kit out. the FRS had a larger diameter shock body than the 1.6/1.8/2.0

it was the complete opposite when i got mine from GAZ, they were 5mm too wide!

get them sent back and explain they are for the FRS.

hope you have more luck with them than i did
