Default XR3i project

Well i thought i'd start a project thread, as i've never been lucky enough to own a second car as a project.

As an overview i got the car off an old lady who passed away, she owned the car from new. Its been sat on her driveway for 4+ years as she didnt want to sell it when she was no longer able to drive, so i acquired it. The plan is to restore it back to former glory and leave it in standard form, with the intention of selling or possibly keeping, depending on how i feel once its done. Anyway, now for the pics.

Last weekend we took the front end off to find this:

As you can see, not looking too great so far!! Also, it is incredible difficult to jack this car up on my drive, as it slopes down and to the left at the same time, which made jacking the car up fun! Also we found that every single bolt/screw/nut was on tight!!

With that sorted we decided to strip the interior:

Mr happy helper:

As you can see the boot floor is immaculate:

With a brand spanking tyre on the spare wheel:

Chucked everything back in and called it a day:

Today we decided to give the car a clean, as it was covered in dirt, moss, and half a pine tree:

Wheels looking pretty good:

Next the rear bumper was off to check for rust spots:

All looking pretty swish under here:

With that done we decided to take a closer look inside, looking good at this stage:

BUT then we found these:

But nothing too serious, the chassis legs are fine, so shouldnt be too much trouble to sort. We also checked the battery tray:

Then we decided to call it a day, although this is by far the best part of the car:

So, comments?

pretty normal to rust like that at the front.

does not seem too bad everywhere else though.

low miles too.
