AP 6 pots or 4 pots?? That is the question???
OK Guys & Girls,
Got some good prices quoted for an AP 330mm setup for the front of my 3 door but not sure whether to go for the 4 pots or 6 pots. My car is mainly used on the road but i plan to maybe do a couple of track sessions next year. Now i know that they are both very good setups but which to go for i am not sure. The price difference is £200 which is not a concern but as for performance? Is there much difference? Would the 6 pots be overkill for the road etc etc. Also which pad to go for as an overall best track/road compromise?
Experience & advice much appreciated
Regards
Andy

4 pots for the back may well come in the winter Wes!! On that note...If you put 4 pots on the back then you loose the hydraulic handbrake..correct?? How do you get round this for MOT etc etc??

I presume you meant "you USE a hydraulic handbrake"?
The std handbrake is cable operated, there is no reason why you couldn't fit a pair of mechanical handbrake calipers to keep it legal. Although it would be alot easier to just use a hydraulic handbrake, and take the car to a "freindly" MOT tester, if you know what i mean
Sourcing mechanical handbrake calipers is the problem, you can use RS200 items, but they are very rare! Wilwood do some, but they don't fit straight on, brembo do some but i have no info on these, so hydraulic would be the easiest option.

Cheers for the advice Chaps. For now i will concentrate on fronts, rears will be the winter project when funds allow
Anyone else got opinions, experience, Good or otherwise, about the 4 pot/6pot setup for the front??

i had the 4 pots on the front of the saff and they was brilliant! no contest 6 pots was bought only because they was stupidly cheap and have a great amount of blingness
when i buy a escort i will be sticking with 4 pots as value for money they cant be beaten all imo of course
I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!

Just thought you will really struggle to get the 6 potts under your Hocks!
Ian only just got them under his and they were ET35 and yours are ET40 if i recall?
You will have to run spacers which is not such a good thing so if i were you i would go for the 4 potts!!

Just checked out the AP website & looking at there dimensioning it looks as though the six pots will fit as they have a smaller offset & utilise a 28mm thick disc where as the 4 pots use the 32mm disc & have a larger offset.
Check out the two link & let me know what you think:-

the 4 pot i am looking at is the CP5200 & the 6pot is the CP5570
Input much appreciated.
