Is the block/bottom end not similar? Just wondering if a 1.8 20V could be converted to 2.0...

don not get involved in the head martin, or the pistons - very tricky, although, with a bit of work, the inlet tracts are massive due to the way fuel in led into the piston/chamber for lean burn

The engine isnt tecnically an FSI any more Audi had too many problems with the FSI burning valves out and spark plugs due to the shit fuel over here. it is designed to run on 102 RON plus,

The 2.0 T is just badged up as an FSI, same as the new RS4's on the back engine cover it states FSI but it isn't

Thats interesting mate!

BMW don't run stratified either - but even so they are going direct injection on lots of engines.

I find this hard to beleive, a company such as Audi badging things that aren't. So where does the clen burning and relatively low emissions come from? Why bother going to the expense and time and effort to advertise the fact that these engines are fsi.

So why do Audi sell, as an example, a plain 2.0, and a 2.0 FSI both petrols?

So when I walk into the local Audi delaer and he is telling me abour the new alloy head on the S3's engine, and full size intercooler and he mentions it has Fuel Stratified Injection I can tell him that he is talking out of his arse?

The FSI is only for fuel consumption and emissions isn't it...

The 1,8 T can be stroked using a diesel crank with good results..
