I make that 334 gold members of the male variety + 13 of the female variety.

 

We definately need to address that Female deficit issue guys

 

What needs to be addressed even more than that is out of 6326 members only 5.49% are prepared to contribute to keeping the site going.

 

Its less than that actually im afraid as anyone who has more than 1 person in the household using PF from the same IP automatically gets Gold membership..

EG: "Rudey" his housemate "Gee" and his better half "TemptRs" only pay one membership and there are a LOT of these scenario's...

Also,
All mods and past mods also have these rights along with family members and ive given a few away in siggy competitions and for outstanding service (Massive essays that made tech essays forum etc) so not all those listed have paid us Ł20 towards hosting costs im afraid.

Anyway......

Dont forget this was my idea from the start and we are 100% fine with it staying this way forever.

Im saying that im happy with a "Household" contributing to our costs as opposed to just a single "member"

In most cases only one member will be using the pc at any one time anyway, but i like to think it keeps the other family members happy too.

This forum can easily save you Ł20 just like it did for me earlier today, so for me its a small gesture, I think some of you other people should pay up aswell.

on the evo register you only get 20 posts then you cant post until you pay up.

Yeh I fell out with them though mate, I was slating the gays in the private forum, and they banned me, but yes, it works really well and id say something like 60% have paid up maybe more !!

in honesty i think yours is a better system, I moderate 4 internet forums, so i see a few different methods, my thinking would be that evo owners tend to have a bit more money to flash about, lets face it you dont get much of an evo under 10k and youngsters cant insure them so theres a lot of over 30's on that forum, dont think the method would work here.

but as I say this is a great forum, more or less self moderating aswell which is good.

Its only self moderating to an extent and our sinbin is still one of the heavyest populated forums, the mods are just very good and you dont see much of what they do, which is the idea of course

Ive always been quite a big believer in freedom of speach and letting topics run though as i personally find once the fires died down, you get a far clearer picture of whos really been burnt

Took me a while to pay up, but I have to agree with bbigman2000, what you get out of this place is well worth 20 quid a year.

Not just technical advice and parts, but non car related stuff, helping other people out with your own knowledge, new friendships, etc... which are priceless really.

My car would probably be off the road and on the scrap (well it isn't exactly on the road atm, but on the mend) if it wasn't for PF.

Thank you everyone for brightening my day everyday with the jokes and silly posts and helping me out of my little diy troubles.

I think that once past a certain post count, say 100, those who have not contributed should be given a gentle nudge to stump up say via a pm, as they are obviously then a major user of the site and its only right that they help out as well.

and no excuses like I cannot afford it, as if they own a pc and can pay telephone line rental then they can afford Ł20 a year.

The knowledge and savings I have gained over the last 12 months make it the best Ł20 I have ever spent.
