Default Secs monitor(BROKEN)

Does anyone know who can repair a secs monitor or tell me what is wrong with mine. When the monitor is on i have alarms on all read outs but can not reset them. All i can do is scroll thru all settings but can not reset any and only one button seems to work. Cheers.

Either one of the buttons is faulty or the wire(s) to the button concerned
is loose/broken.

You can test the buttons by powering the unit and using a piece of wire
to short out the two pins on the back of the suspect button.

marco polo,

New monitor doesnt cover eec4, sorry.

However, the people that will be selling it may push for it to be added.

AndyRST,

With respect, Go f**k yourself

Proof will be here very soon of new monitor.
I have posted pictures elsewhere but wont here until its on the
shelf ready to go.

I am only 1 person and have a full time job and a familiy.
I dont make these products for making huge wealth it WAS more of a
hobby and it doesnt make enough money to support me so I have other
priorities. Also, it takes money which I didnt have.

I now have tied up with an electronics company that is handling all
the manufacturing and sales of my new product range.

If you as one person can design, build and sell such a device then you
are a better person than me as from my experience and past mistakes
I have realised I cant do it all myself and am now doing things
differently.

Also, developing products has to be prioritised as for example its pointless
doing loads of work only sell 50 monitors which took hundreds of man hours
to design and write software for.

I am sorry you feel that you have waited but no money has changed
hands or firm promises made.

Having said all that, 2 other companies make similar more expensive
products and just for the record I started those companies but didnt
have the time or did not stay with them for various personal reasons.

Many people say to me, if you make XXXX you will make a fortune
but NOT ONE person even puts their money where there mouth is.

Blar Blar Blar

If it wasnt for your track record and that you werent able to share any product details, costs and projected images for a monitor for the FRS, the RSOC could have had 25+ deposits for units but people wernt willing to organise a RSOC group buy and have people wait for you to develop the product, glad i didnt wait . Shame as I really wanted a SECS style monitor for the FRS owners.

Anyway the FRS boys have a much cheaper product thats tried, tested, working and available for the FRS that works via OBD2 and live reads the ECU as the engine runs, so nay problem now

Andy,

Genuinely glad you are happy.

I cant see how anyone can make money on 25 units and cheaper
than the CURRENT secs monitor unless its all done for love.
I am not a charity so good luck to "them"

This is why the new unit I have made it multi purpose/multicar and
has the facility for extra external sensors and data logging to a PC
and also has a larger display than the current secs monitor
but wont cost much more at all but I hope to sell a fair few
to recoup my development costs.
Pictures have already been posted elsewhere so wont repeat them here.

This is multicar/multipurpose, works on any OBD2 ported car after 1996 and can be yours for £88 delivered to your door, how much is a current SECS monitor? im not up on your current pricing

AndyRST,

Wow, If its that cheap and does what you need then its a bargain.

Cant see how anyone is making any money let alone breaking even
at that price unless its a mass produced chinese import or someone
is making them in his garden shed for pin money.

Thats because it is a great product.
Sadly, some people will only ever complain.

In fact, some people even go out of their way to lie and badmoth people for things they havent done. You have to just try and rise above their sad and pathetic jealousy Simon.

Yep it does :

Fuel Economy
Fuel Rate
Battery Voltage
Coolant Temperature
Intake Air Temperature
Engine Speed (RPM)
Vehicle speed (MPH)
Manifold Pressure (boost)
Engine Load
Throttle Position
Ignition Timing
Open/Closed Loop
Maximum Speed
Average Speed
Maximum Coolant Temperature
Maximum RPM
Driving Time
Driving Distance
Fuel Used
Trip Fuel Economy
Distance to Empty
Time to Empty
Fuel to Empty
Reads Trouble Codes
Clears Trouble Codes

Think its made in USA, it certainly came from the USA. The style and buttons are a little on the cheap side but works a treat and LCD screen very easy to use and see

No it wont work on cossies. Only OBD2 equipped cars built after 1995
(probably cars after 1999 in this country)

Dave,

Not all parameters are available on all cars.

Infact Ford are the best in that area for providing top compliance to OBD specs.

Yeah 99% of them are common to obd2 cars. All of those listed work on the FRS, so no reason they wont work on other uk cars

No one sells them over where but you can by direct from the makers website and have it shipped over here. If you get stung for import tax will only be about £15 on top of the £88

Wont work on cossies, prob only works on obd2 equiped cars from 1996/7

Yes the SECS monitor is great bit of kit, and yes thats why i really really really wanted one that works with the FRS, but by the time one comes out for a FRS they will have all rusted and be in scrap yards
