Default Turbo mini project updated 22/04/07

Just bought this for a new project car. I already have a metro turbo engine just need to sort a decent gear box and a few other bits out, before getting it finished off.

Should be fun once it's completed

Awesome, mate of mine had one of these, with a sequential box and everything, never went in it sadly though, it kept breaking clutches

He reshelled it into a pukka mille miglia body not long after, was super rapid then

Here's a few pictures of the bits that i've put together so far, hopefully i'll get some good ones of the shell when i get it out of the garage.

Metro front mounted radiator and fan

Cylinder head ported to around 29cc on the combustion chambers & tapped for the heater matrix

Starmag 7x13 alloys, have two spares as two on the car are slightly buckled. Thinking of using them for slicks for 1/4 mile runs if they can be straightened out

Center console and gauges

Cosworth 2wd intercooler, actuator, pre-verto clutch slave cylinder, flywheel bolt & extended arm

Gaskets, braided master cylinder to slave cylinder hose & engine mounts

Lightened clutch back plate, AP rally plate, grey pressure plate & clutch release bearing

Spec-r breather tank

Ultra light flywheel with pre-engaged ring gear

Straight cut 1.1 drop gears

Central oil pick up pipe

Carbon fibre dash & clocks/gauges

I'll keep things updated as progress is made.

Love it. I would LOVE to have a proper Hardcore mini.
I think my mid life crisis toy would be a Z-Cars Mini with a bike engine in it.
Will follow this thread with much interest.

looks good!

You want to get yourself a MPi manifold gasket though - it will last longer

What spec are you planning for the engine?

I was under the impression the manifold gasket was a competition one bought from min-its.

Spec wise it's just a standard metro turbo block, t3 turbo and internals, going to be running mega jolt, did you get my pm?

Looking at getting a centre main strap fitted on the crank.

Got a tran-x cross pin diff ordered & on it's way.

Not chasing big numbers, but i don't want to destroy the gearbox on the first launch.

Used to have a bull nose mini turbo, would spin to wheels upto the red line in 4th and batter anything on the road. Still had 10inch wheels and drums on it. Ran it for about 18 months with the actuator pipe disconnected and it still didn't blow up (plenty of blow by tho!) Brilliant fun

This is absolutly your engine - the only other one I am building is blue!

The machine work has all measured up ok - the bores are very good! Only 0.25 thou difference between all four bores

For those asking about spec its currently:

1293cc
8.4:1 CR
modified head
stage 2 cam
4 bolt centre main

Depending on turbo - currently a T3 with a 0.25 exh housing, but I think it really needs a gt15 - it should do about 170bhp.

timing casing needs modifying and then the head goes on
