mk1 escort into rs2000
hello!
I'm new around here nice to meet you all.
I've started a project: mk1 escort 1100CC into rs2000.
When I put the pinto 2L engine enside, what else do I need to change?
What kind of diff. I need?
I'll get all the parts from Ebay UK, but there is so many confusing stuff, and I need your help!
Can someone to advice me.
sorry about my English, I'm from Israel.
thank you for your help,
Ziv.

the diff (center section) or complete back axle that you want is the 3.54:1 ratio as per the RS2000... but your diff (or more corectly the crownwheel and pinion C.W.P) is probably a higher numbered one, which will mean the car will accelerate quicker but the top speed will be lower.
Build the car using your back axle as it is and then see what you want... more top sped or quicker acceleration.
The diff is only a small part of the back axle, the bit which acctually changes the speeds is called the CWP. The CWP and diff together is called the center section.
2 types of diff are avalible... "open" or "Lockiing"
An open diff is most common and allows one wheel to spin .
A locking diff comes in 3 main types for the Ford Live axles ... Torque sensing, (Quaife ATB,Torsen) ... Clutch Plate (Salisbury. ZF, Trannex) and Cam and Pawl types .
the locking diffs will lock both wheels together to aid traction, (allthough the Torque Sensing ones wont on very loose surfaces)
