Default Re-spray

I've just been quoted £800 for a full respray on my saff which includes tidying the rear arches (rust) and a few other bits. Does this seem about right? I was expecting double that .

Does anybody think it would be such a bad job that it would not be worth it?

I would say £2k minimum for a decent job. I paid best part of £2500 8 years ago for my S1 to be fully painted. Happily parted with the money as the finish is flawless - I got what I paid for.

it all depends on whos doing the job its awrite sayin u get what u pay for but am a painter by trade and done a full respray black for £700 and all it was to do was flatten it and paint it just a freshen up .

when u say ure arches r rusty depends who it is but they might just grind the rust of and fill and paint which is no good as in a couple of months it,l be back thru .

so would need more info to decide if cheap or not

whats the condition of the car ? (rust and dent wise)

what colour is it (is it stayin the same colour) ?

what do u want in a respray ?(do u want inside door checks,under bonnet,boot etc ? )

as if itds just a door shut freshin up respray no dents etc thats bout the asking price ?

but sayin that a painters only as good as his last job so ad want to see previous jobs first . hope that helps mate .

ive been quoted 1200 to redo my fiesta silver and that includes a few rust spots and 1 rather large dent. or 1400 including fitting new front pane/wings(i supply)and cleaning any grot in that area(its pretty damn clean though). i reckon this is a good price and judging by the e30 bmw show car and the 330ci show car, he has in his yard hes probably pretty damn good.

Thanks for all your input people.

I just went to this bloke cos a flyer came through the door so I don't know him. The car is white ( although some panels are off white ) so it just needs freshning up. The rust on the arches ain't too bad but it does need sorting.

I might go back and ask some more questions and get a more detailed look at some of his work.

i paid £600 to have my cav done last april and was very happy with it, finish is still really good now as i have seen paintjobs look good when done but a year later be really bad. i had seen this guys work before and knew him through the 205 forum, only bad part was i had to take the car to sheffield, got it back in 10 days though.
