Default Harness Manufacturers

Is there a particular make that's better than the others?
Also, what are the mounting differences between the 5 and 6 point ones? Don't really want to go for 3 or 4 point due to what i've heard about the possibilities of submarining.
can the bottom 2 straps go back to the same place or does that completely defeat the object?

Both Andy and I use the TRS Pro harnesses.

Any of the big makes will be fine:

TRS, Sabelt, Willans etc

5 point, FIA approved, but the centre lower harness should have a different mounting point to any of the others so that the forces act correctly.

I have tried and used many over the years in various cars.

BY FAR the most comfortable to use (by design of the shoulder buckle) are ones from LUKE.

They have a flatter back and more rounded buckle so sit comfier on the body when pulled tight.

The bottom 2 (or 1)strap(s) can go back to the same place yes.

*EDIT* By same place I mean its own mounting point under the seat

thanks very much folks.
looks like i'll go for the luke ones if there's that much difference.

i've got a mounting point under the seat for the lower strap/s, but just needed it clearing up whether i could run both (if it's a 6 point) down to there.

Mark - as Tony says, that's a yes to the two lower straps.

I thought you wanted to take the 1 or 2 lower straps to the side strap fixings or something....... and yes, I have seen that before

One guy on the MR2 trackday we did recently had his held on to the firewall with a phillips head screw - I shit you not!

No Richard, thankfully I'm not quite that misguided .. the way i'm doing it, the top two go to the harness bar on the cage, middle 2 go to the original seatbelt mount on one side and the other to a custom mount on the new tunnel, and there's a 5th fixing for another strap pretty much directly under the front of the driver's seat, and i just didn't know if that meant i'd be limited to 5 point only, but thanks for the advice.

not really sure of the advantage of the 6th strap if it goes to the same fixing.. surely it just means your nuts get ruined between 2 straps rather than crushed by 1?

I bought a basic willans and my brother bought a basic luke.

The quality of the luke fittings and buckles was much nicer.

I think luke will be going in the rush
