Default Sunroof removal for Motorsport??

Has anyone done this to a 3dr before?? I know someone that is converting a road car to a competition car and need to remove the sunroof to comply with structure rules etc etc.... Trying to think where to start?!?! Easier to remove the whole roof skin or just the panel?
Coments please people...

Hi there!

A friend of mine did that to an Escort, but I guess it´s kind of the same...

It´s alot easier to replace the whole roof skin, because its hard to weld in such a big and THIN piece of sheet metal without deforming the whole roof skin. (you may manage to do it, but then it´s not worth the work and time spent on it)
You will be faster and it will look better when you replace the whole roof skin.

Very true. Do Ford sell a "motorsport" roof skin at all? I know from mine that they have small rails near the gutters that would be lost if a flat sheet was pressed up? Is that yours pictured Mark? Very nice job.

Well I guess it doesn't have to be a "motorsport" roof skin (if that even exists )

A standard Sierra roof skin will do a good job I think...

Nice work with the roof if that one is welded!
Didn't say its impossible to make it look good, but we did the whole roof skin on my mates escort and it was alot easier than taking all the roof-window parts out and filling the hole imo
