for sale i have a very nice mk 2 escort rs2000 in black.this car was being shown in concours in 1996.

the car has recently undergone some restoration work including a new n/s/r arch and a full and expensive full repaint,which is an excellent job-i know the guys who did the job and they are great bodylads and rs enthusiasts themselves.

the car itself has only covered a genuine 54000 miles and has had 4 owners.it comes with a large portfolio of history.has just this week passed its mot where the tester was amazed at its structural condition-the car has had 2 small plates welded on the sill about 3 years ago and thats it,as far as i can see no other welding.inner wings are great,as is a/b/c posts,sills,chassis,boot floor,doors,floors.roof is great and has no sunroof.

has recently had a new full exhaust system fitted,a big valve head,not sure about cam,standard webber carb,but have got a set of 40's available which are jetted for a 2.0 pinto for an extra cost.

if i remember correctly(not looked yet,as its only just come in and the car is at work and im not now!),the car has got bilstein suspension and vented front discs-if it hasnt i will change this.......
sat on proper rs alloys which are in very good condition and fitted with brand new yokohama tyres all round.

the interior is black fishnet recaros,i think the door cards are uncut(will check),the only real issue is the front seat lower bolster is badly worn and ideally needs sorting out.its the only real issue on the car-but most people put seat covers on them anyway!

its getting very difficult nowadays to find a decent,low mileage,low owner,good history,good body,excellent shell escort rs2000 mk2.they are unbelievably sought after and prices are climbing upwards from year to year.

i will get some decent pics of the car up tomorrow when its light.

anywaythe history shows that the car was first registered by fishers garage in liverpool in 1979.it stayed with them until 1984 when it was sold to a guy in widnes.he kept it until 1995 when it was sold to a guy i know from newton le willows.he showed it for a few years and sold it to a friend of mine in 2004.he had it for about 6 months then i got it in a deal on a cossie.i sold it to a friend who sent it straight in for its paintjob which has took 2 years to complete.which is where we are now.

so the car has been a local car all its life and stayed within 25-30 miles.

i think its going to be one of those cars i regret selling and should really put it in a corner with a cover over it,especially the way these cars are appreciating.
plus a mate has been to see it today and thinks its worth easily 7k plus

macker,he has been and looked at the car -he said its a really nice car in great condition and he is seriously considering it.

he has arranged to see a yellow one on friday so wants to see that one before making his mind up.

not worried really as there are 154 people watching it on ebay,its already at 5100,so if 10 out of the 154 get into a bid war it stands a chance of doing its reserve.

sounds like the car he is looking for is out there but about £10-12k.

i know the car is great value and a real good example,yes its had some repairs in its life-and a full repaint,but hardly anything compared to most and it is 28 years old!

Hes taking a trip there soon, as he like the Yellow one also.
He just wants one to pull out on sunny days & weekends. Will pay the right money for the right car.
Have also passed on details of the Red Base Model for sale on the site.

 

He wasnt knocking the car Jay, said paint work was nice, just that the car had had alot more work done than he was under the impression it had done.
Plus said the original interior was sold on & whats in it now was put in its place. Said it was one of the better ones he`d seen, but would rather pay a bit more for one that was more original.
Dale is fussy & if he`s paying good money , he wants a original car.
Knows you wont have any problems selling it Jay, but its not for him

what i think happened,although could never be proved was the guy who sold it in 2004 removed the mint seats and fitted these ones,which are to be fair,good but not mint.thats my theory.

he has a few rs2000's so the mint seats would come in handy!

 

Aldridge trimming do black beta at a decent price, all it would take is the front and back seats redone (not as expensive as you think) and you would have one hell of a mint motor with a new trim and uncut doorcards to boot.

No 30year old car out there is perfect they all need work. Mine is booked in for a brand new genuine ford passenger door in the next few weeks along with a few other bits that niggle me, if you saw the car you would think I was bonkers!!!
