Duties worked out on the following:

Freight cost
Insurance premiums
Value of goods (which is at the customs officials discresion!)

Usually worked out at approx 10% (again this is at the hands of the customs officer!).

Thats all i want to get involved with (can of worms!).

Use a specialised company mate who deal with this sort of thing day in day out!

Have you considered Australia as well if it's only something like that? The steering wheels are on the right side for a start

I remember seeing some awesome V8 bits of kit over there [ask Popeye for ideas too], it's where the Minaro orginated from after all

Import duty on a Truck from the States is 22% plus vat on everything including shipping,
As against a car which is only 10% plus vat on everything including shipping.

Pickups are 22% they are classed as commercial which is 22%, don't know why it's higher.

Age makes no difference.

pre 1950 it's 5%

TBH you'll probably find one here all paid up for less than it would cost to bring one over.

what are you looking for? Chevy, Ford, Dodge, ??

I have several customers with them, maybe one would suit your needs.

you don't want much do you!

My cautomers stuff is newer than that, 96-97 is, and oddly enough would work out cheaper.

There is another way.

if you had a US address (mates house?) and were importing a vehicle that you had owned for over 6 months, you would not have to pay VAT or import duty.

They allow this if you are relocating to the UK.

Might be tricky to prove, but as long as you have the pink slip in your name for over 6 months before you shipped it, must be worth a try.

You could try NSRA web site, Classic american etc

i think shipping would be £800 - £1000 on a roll on roll off basis, no container.

check with an agent is best bet.

give customs a call, some can be very helpfull, just tell them you're going to work out there, staying with a friend. Ask if the vehicle can come back duty/vat free.

they don't bite for asking questions.
