Im not sure its the product that is the problem Pete. I think it the company profile and customer service that causes the ill feeling. Im sure someone from here can elaborate further

I had the hi spec big disc conversion on my cossie and the bolts that hold the bell to the disk sheared of, there was only 2 bolts that were intact!!!!
This was within a month iirc

Mind you this was years ago and was a common problem back then, not sure about now.

Yeah, product is fine, i also had to replace the bolts though, 3 or 4 years ago, was a bad batch they told me then (but then again stainless bolts are prone to braking if you overtighten them (mind you it was hi-spec that delivered bells and discs in one piece))

If you ever need a replacement part it can take upto 2 months to get something, that's where they're shit at

Same here - No issues with the brakes

Used Mike Rainbird @ R&B Motorsport UK to Geoff @ Hi-Spec

"people" told me 6 pots were overkill for everyday use....but i think they're mint...the feel on the peddle is great and when u want a bit more u just push....if A.p's are better they must be awsome

Calipers are fine similar to a lot of other CNC machined products in fact. Much better and stronger than a particular drop forged mass produced alloy item.

Watch the quality of the discs (not the appearance - but the quality)

Fred's working 6 days per week so products on back order go into a queue system as a lot of stuff isn't stocked.

Just my thoughts

Its all about the brand name imo, why buy pair of farah trousers when for a few more quid you can buy a pair of louis vutton,

big brakes for me have gotta be AP racing and nothing else

i bought some 355 and 6 pots off them a couple of yr ago,the discs fouled the t/rod ends, presumably due to the wrong m/bells,the calipers fouled the discs customer service was non existant would never dream of using them again, got my money back after about 3 weeks but not postage, through no fault of mine!

An absolute w*nker of a company. They take your money and you wait weeks for the product. Then when youre brakes reach you, they dont f*ckin fit.A warning to all, this is a cr*p firm, look elsewhere for brakes, either save up for AP's,go for Compbrake or use ZOO's Brembo kits.Regards ,Micky

The Hi-Spec products are actually quite reasonable. I order quite a lot of bits from them for various motors I work on. Fortunately for me though, I make sure it is in stock 1st, then pop over to see them. They are only 5 miles away from me.

However::: I am not sure if it is Jeff Bedding (the owner) or some of the lads there who are the problem. A friend took his immaculate red Audi Quattro LWB in for some brakes, and when it came back, there was grinding spatter all over the bodywork on 1 side where they had been grinding something on a car near it, and the digital display was not working anymore in the dash. He found out later that they had left the ignition and interior lights on overnight (they had it for a few days due to the work being carried out) and had put a jumpack on it with the ignition still turned on Fried the dash circuits completely.

I can't remember the final outcome, I know they denied it all, and he was going to sue them.

Basically, product = good, PR/service = leaves a bit to be desired.

If you want good service, go there yourself and pick up from the counter.

Oh, and remember, if a product isn't in stock, the wait is probably because they are CNC machining more @ that time. Jeff does do a lot of the machining himself, I have seen the inside of the work premises, and I'd like some of that machinery in my garage. (not sticking up for him, just pointing out a fact)

I've got a set on my mk2, product is excellent but I heard horror stories about service so went through Mike R and got perfect service, even when I had to return them
