not a fan of girly cars but that looks quality, and 190lbs of torque, not bad, get it chipped and it would be very fast i think

just another example of a watered down hot hatch i remember the talk of these abouth 3-4 years ago the corsa gsi was going to be 2ltr turbo and 200hp now vauxhall fans are fobbed off with a 1.6

the same happened with the fiesta ford decided it wasnt cost effective to build a 2.0ltr turbo fiesta rs so we just got the rather tame fiesta st

I quite like the look of that, but it is definitely girly, or maybe just because it's a little red hot hatch

not too good on looks but ill take the engine anyday suppose.

it does seem like cars are being watered down these days tho.

Bring back the days of car manufacturers building cars that dropped jaws and not just kept costs down and filled their pockets.

Why cant there b more cars like the Lotus Carlton, Escort & Sierra Cosworths, Vauxhall Chevettes, Peugot 205 GTi's etc???

How can you say this car is watered down?

Vaux's old classic "Hot hatch" the Astra GTE, or the GSi, both had 150bhp, and weighed more. This is 190bhp, andwill handle and brake superb I expect.

Step away from the crack pipe mate

all im saying is that cars nowadays have been gettin press related stuff saying that they will recieve this and that and have this BHP and this Torque but they always come out down on the figures that the companies say!

yes it will b a good performing car, i never said that it wouldnt...and i cant wait to see some major companies getting their hands dirty on it and improving it further, but it has to be said that cars nowadays compared to cars 15-20 years ago ARE a bit watered down compared to back then, even with technology advancements they could still be a bit more powerful and hit the targets than car makers say they will!!

EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN!!

Vauxhall and all the jap car makers are still turbo'ing cars, so why cant ford get their finger out and give us more of the same like in the old days??

Has it got so bad at ford that they have to buy engines from Volvo to power their cars because they cant afford to develop their own Turbo'd engines anymore??

Why not have a re-incarnation of the CVH and YB models (yes i know cosworth was sold on from fords hands but a deal could b made for a new generation of Cosworths or RS's to be made)

they did it with the Focus RS as that was an outstanding car when released and still is, so why not do it with more of the new models of ford??

Like the Monaro VXR, Impreza, Clio 197 etc...

I think if anything we are a bit spoilt for good cars these days.

i would as theres no replacement for displacement as the saying goes think of the tuning potential of a the 1.6 compared to the 2ltr they originally planned

I've seen well over 300bhp from a 1.3, so I reckon you could happily tune the 1.6 to most peoples needs.

Those that want more power, whack a Z20LET or a C20LET in.

I just think that were at the best point ever for cars, people need to come out of the past!

agree with the clio n that, but look at the monaro. Its a Holden with a Chevvy V8 engine and a Vauxhall Badge.

What im really trying to say is that car makers these days are just swapping parts and arent really designing cars 100% by them selves nowadays. The only ones that are still really doing that are the Jap boys, Europe's car makers are all swapping and buying/selling parts to each other in an attemp to keep costs down and profits up. im not saying that they dont work well when they go together, but it would be good to see a car brought out by ford etc that they havent borrowed or bought parts from another company!

Theres hardly any fobbing off with the 1.6T engine appearing in the Corsa. There was no way they would use the 2L T engine as this was used in the Astra VXR. The smaller 1.6 engine weighs less so will improve handling (which the Corsa VXR is rumured to be extremely good) and the fact its comes out as 190bhp as oposed to the 200bhp previously mentiond is so that it doesn't embarass the Astra VXR .

The 1.6 T engine will easily respond well to tuning and I know for a fact that there are development cars with 220bhp already and these have been accomplished with a simple re-map and nothing else.

Personally I think it should be an awesome piece of kit but the only downside with the VXR range (apart from the VXR220 and the Monaro) is they are in FWD cars which means that all that power thats pretty simply to get from Vauxhalls latest impressive engines can't really be put to great use on the road .

Another clown who has NO experience of driving decent powered FWD cars then

Trust me, I expect the VXR to be totally drivable. Unless hammering it in first gear and thats it is your thing

Just another shopping trolley that spotty little shitheads will be sticking plastic bits on to and baked-bean tin exhausts on for years to come. It's a vauxhall for christs sake "full irmscher kit man innit safe mush man cushty"

You cant polish a turd

I'll give it 190 seconds before bits start dropping off

One of the main things with Vauxhalls at the moment are the interiors, absolute dog-shit.

I quite liked the look of the sport hatch til' i looked at the interior and compared it to the equivalent Focus. Horrible grey plastic and stupid silver plastic and bright orange display clocks/radio/cd displays. At least ford had the decency to use brushed steel/aluminum on mine.

Why are the knobs and switches covered in rubber with nobbles on??

I've since driven an astra 100 CDTi and i have to say it was quite possibly the worst 15 minutes of my life. No guts whatsoever, makes more noise than a 15 year old tractor, and the seat padding reminds of some sort of 1970s Rover

Why is everyone slating having 1.6T in a small car - hello Esc/fes Rs??This develops more power as standard, will be more reliable and the car looks good!!

You're all sooo quick to judge sayin some little chav will have one soon as with lexus lights etc - Have you seen half the cars on the ford sites recently??

Thin some of you need to grow up - IMHO that looks like a cracking car and has stopped me gettin a fiesta ST as I want to drive it and see what its like 1st

Just my 2c

And if you check the VXR website its got 192ps - sot hats closer to 195bhp - not too shabby!!

Yeah but why arent they still doin it?? The fiesta ST is now lacklustre IMO and every young person who isn't into 20 yr old bangers with no power IMO should agree!!

But sayin that - each to there own

I like old properly resto'd cars but you have gotta keep with the times, you can't judge them on the same page as your car. On a modern road the corsa is a refeshin change from all the blandness of recent hot hatches and I think FORD need to step up or they'll never recover from this recent slouch

id rather buy a 2nd hand ST and with the cash saved, id get throttle bodies fitted, there was a company that said that 200bhp could be made by fitting them on, was in FF,

then get the usual exhaust and whatever, fit coilovers as well should be pretty similar to the corsa then, shame about the 5speed gearbox tho

im not saying it wont be a good car, and 190 or 195 or whatever the output is is good for a 1.6, just i dont like corsa's. i see them as a chavs car
and 7 out of 10 corsas in my area are driving by chavs or dyed blonde haired girls with ornage skin,

the other 3-10 are either old people or mums
