Default running on 3cyl again..

Hi all....

I have a strange problem...3weeks ago ive put some new 071 plugs in the engine...so far no problem...
But yesterday...the car was running on 3cyl again when at idle...but when im driving it runs on 4cyl....
But if i bring the boost up above 0.5bar or so...it misfires...(i think the cylinder its about i guess)...
But otherwise it runs ok...only at idle on 3...

Does anyone have an idea...

Allright...little update...

its the first cylinder which doesnt work at idle...
ive changed the leads with each other....no result..
ive changed the plugs woth each other...also no result..
ive newed the the plastic things on the distributor...where the leads hanging on..dont know the word...also no result...

mmm...

could this be an injector problem...i find it strange because it only wont work at idle...

there is no messy stuff in the coolant..and also not on the oilstick...
the car runs normal when driving...but positive boost at 0.5bar and more it misfires..i guess at the first cyl...

Just check the condition of the crank pully, especially the 4 lugs around the outside !

Also check condition of injector plugs, maybe swap the injectors round ?

It's something indiginous to that cylinder.

Are you sure that it's not sparking on idle, or no fuel ?

Good luck

Thats alright fella,

Well if you take the plug out on the cylinder thats causin greif, smell it or does it look wet ? If no spark & the injectors workin fine it'll be wet, but don't rev it to make that cylinder work again as your'd burn it all off !

Have you got a noid light to check the injector's pulsing ?

Yeah do a compression test, then if thats fines it's just a case of process of elimination. can only be one of a few things !

Sticky lifter for instance !

Good luck,

If you get stuck i'll give ya me mobile number & we can go through things over the phone.

Cheers

Jb

LOL,

So could be injector not firing ?

I didn't realise where you live !

But i did say i will give you my number so you can call me ! ! !

Already got Ł250 phone bill each month ! LOL

Cheers

jb

P.s. remember when you do the compression test, your looking for consistency across all 4 cylinders not specifically figures ! And try do it when engine at operating temp & with full throttle (disconnect coil or dizzy so engine doesn't fire). Good luck again

ok...little update again...

compressiontest was ok....only cyl 3 is 6% behind on the rest....for the milage not bad i guess...

it turns out its the gasket between the inlet and the head...its leaking at the first cylinder...

so i know what the problem is now...
