Those who recall this Cossie that crashed head-on into a Transit just outside my house (happened about 6 years ago):



EDITED white Astra NOT Corsa.

This morning at about 7.00 I heard an really loud bang (was in bed half asleep), it was still dark, but I could see it was a bad one, about 150 yards up the road.

A red VW Caddy van was overtaking a load of traffic ON THE WRONG SIDE of the double white lines and crashed head-on into a [b](EDITED white ASTRA).

Two occupents of the van (blokes) and the young lass in the ASTRA were trapped in the wreckage for over an hour

Roof was cut off the Astra, the driver was cricital, she had spinal/abdominal injuries.

Witnesses said the Caddy van was overtaking for about 500 yards, and even when the double white lines started he just stayed out and carryied on - NO BRAKE LIGHTS were seen on this van even on impact!

Van driver and passenger had serious injuries too, three seperate anbulances were used.

That looks nasty, hope theyre all ok. The girl in the corsa needs to have her life back and the guy in the caddy needs some proper justice, and I dont mean jail.

Road is still closed...........Police photographer is recording the approach to the scene of crash (road was/is wet - so no trye marks at all).

I hope so too. I will update this post later in the week, with details of her condition/progress. I am sure the local paper will cover this accident.

WHen I crashed and rolled my astra a few years ago there were no visible tyre marks as I hadn't locked my wheels etc - but the police were still able to tell me where I started braking and where I stoped braking

Looks realy bad, I just hope there all ok.

Not too sure about the pics being posted though, just because there is blood though it doesn't mean anyone was dead, not that there needs to be any blood for someone to be dead either.

 

No the pics were taken 8 miles away from the scene (at recovery company's pound), lacal paper photographer was there too - we both asked for permission to take pics.

Thing is, the LOCALS (including me) are trying to reduce the speed of this road down to a 30 MPH and waaay before the bend (it is 60 MPH at the bend - then 40 MPH after). And even with 5 - 6 accidents like this a year the local council wont listen to us. So we send them pics after every crash.

If I am honest I did sort of wonder why so graphic- but I get it now.

When I rolled my car ( as mentioned earlier) There were 3 other fatal crashs around the same 6 week period and many more accidents and deaths.

4 years later (12 mths ago now) and they have installed Safety barriers, lowered the speed limit from NAtional to 50 and installed 2 speed cameras at the 2 junctions which created the accidents. They have also put up a sign which reads somet like
14 deaths
55 serious injuries
103 None serious injuries
1 year

No, driver died instantly (no passengers in the Cossie), Transit driver had bad injuries/shock but made a full recovery.

 

 

You've got to wonder why the council dont listen, total twats.
