1st day back to work and I fuck myself up

Managed to cut my self to shit on a Landy Disco today, but one injury in particlar has me perplexed!

We use this 1.2mm square sided wire (steel) to cut out screens. It's coiled up in a pack, so natually it always wants to recoil. Anyway, I was using it today and cut it whilst under tension, and it recoiled and hit me in the hand. Many times before now the end of it has done that, and most times it draws blood. But it's usually like getting a pin-prick and I think nothing of it.

Today it did it, and as per normal I didn't really feel it, and only noticed a few seconds later when I looked at my hand and noticed it was bleeding. But not just normal bleeding - it was projectile bleeding! As in real jets of blood, that must have come ou ta good inch or two from my hand

It's right on my thumb, behind the knuckle, but before the wrist- just on the side of the big round part (sorry, don't know medial names, but it's the bit that is like the heel ). Now, it stopped projectile bleeding after a few more secs (managed a good couple of squirts tho!) and then, within 30 secs, a lump began to form on my hand, around the puncture mark from this wire. It's EXACTLY like when you get a bee sting that you are allergic to - very much like an anaphylactic reaction! It continued to grow untill it was about half a cm or so proud of the normal curve of my hand, and was about 1cm in diameter, with the puncture wound in the middle.

A min after all this happend, I began to notice my hand was sore as hell, and I can barely move my thumb still (difficult to grip, moving my thumb actually really hurts) but it's like an achin soreness, which to me says it's muscle related...

Could I have really been stabbed hard enough with this wire to tap into a muscle? And am I having a reaction of sorts or is this normal for a musicle related injury?

I do NOT want to go to hospital again Not been since 1995, and ended up there TWICE last Thurs and Friday

I could add to that by saying I got a call my my mortgage arrangers today to tell me that, for the second time, Nationwide are refusing me the mortgage I was originally offered, now telling me they can only lend me Ł9k less than originally agreed

 

pumping blood means you have damaged an artery. the hospital will only clean the wound and apply a dressing to it, but you must be carefull it doesnt get infected. unlucky.

 

bloody hell...this is wasted on a forum...compile it all into a book!

Least the foot is fixed!
I still recommend cutting off anything that's causing discomfort...even though that'd mean soon you'll only be a head left

Fuck it, will stick a plaster on it to keep clean and hope it gets better in a day or two.....

Really DOES feel like an anaphylactic reaction usually associtated with bee stings n the like tho!

u got any antiseptic cream or iodine in your house cause id ge some of that on there to kill off any germs dragged in by the metal when it cut you. it will hurt like hell but wil prevent any infection from taking hold and giving u blood poisioning. (ive had this happen myself and it aint nice)!!!!
