Default Anybody do me a quick guide on overhauling a turbo??

Ordered a new seal and bearing kit today... cheers Stu .

http://www.motorsport-developments.c...rborepairs.htm

Kit includes;
Front and rear oil seals.
Thrust & Shaft bearings.
Shaft bearing circlips.
Backplate o ring.
New Nosenuts.
New compressor/turbine housing bolts.
New compressor/turbine housing clamp plates.

Never stripped one before, I am quietly confident it shouldn't be "too" much of a problem for me, but would be handy to know what Im up against beforehand.

Are there any online technical guides at all?
Exploded diagrams?

Any probs Im likely to encounter? Anything I should be partuicularly careful about? What can I damage pmsl......

Also how long would it take a competent "pro" once its on the bench ?

Any tips greatly appreciated, Cheers in advance

Damian

With balancing its simple, if the nosenut and compressor are market in relation to teh shaft and then replaced in teh same orientation the balance will be the same as before.

None of the parts you are replacing are rotating you see.

Good luck getting the end nut off the shaft, they can be a bit tricky some times.

It's easy......

Put it in a box with a cheque and address it to Turbo Technics.

When it come back, remove it from box and refit to car....simple!

the worst thing that cn happen to you is for the studs to snap inthe ex housing , if they feel like they aint gonna undo , dont force them warm the housing up with a blow torch , then the bolts will release

kenny showed me how to do them a while back , tis very easy ive done a few now , bit of patients and you will see how easy it is !!
