Default House Restoration..UPDATED pg 2 05/10/07

Heres an old house we are renovating at the moment. Its pre war and hasnt had a thing done to it apart from the odd lick of paint in all that time

[

First thing to do was knock the upstairs walls out as they were built on the joists and had sagged them about 3 inches

Then all the old plaster had to come off and all the wood work etc.

Stairs out

LOTS TO DO lol

Cool project!

How did you support the new upstairs joinst? Are they on hangers or notched in?

It'll be quite interesting to see how this relates to a car rebuild in relation to time?

lol no dave stud wallls internally are better as they are insulated and obviously lighter...the block walls before bowed the joists...

The joists are sat into the wall not on hangers the only ones on hangers are the ones used as the trimmer round the stairs....

Well time wise opposed to a car...we have 12 weeks in for this, including the extension, but it wont be done in 12 weeks time as we wont be there for maybe 2 months from now....

Looks great Lee

Have you seen those houses on Wakey Road opposite BMB/Buildbase or whatever its called now. Couple of those look like they could do with a refurb. Look like nice houses too.

I'm sure a man of your capabilities could buy one, do it up and sell for a tidy profit

Shame

One of them looks like its just been left though mate and i'm sure its up for sale. Don't think it has upstairs windows in and needs doing out. I'll have a look next time i pass. The front gardens are huge and the house looks a nice size too.

Wish i had the money to buy it
