Default '88'S2 Resto project [28FEB WORK RESUMES/FLOOR PAN]

Heres a few pictures of my series 2, the car has been sat for 5 years and is now cosmetically in a sorry state, the tin worm has set in.
It had a cash injection 18 months ago where i had fitted a new T3 Turbo pace front mount intercooler, new Konis all round etc and after changing the engine for a claimed 1.9 low comp unit yet to be confirmed 1.9 by Sir Harvey Gibbs!! The car is currently in the very capable hands of my good friend Russell "The Pig" hennesey @ custom body repair! Being a qualified panel beater an awesome sprayer he had to be the man for the job, look forward to the result as its about time the old girl had a major freshen up over the winter. Few niggly problems with the engine and ancillaries that need to be sorted as does the exact spec of the engine.[/img]

Then we moved onto the front panel to replace the gout with steel!!

Then just enough time for the interior to come out ready to start for the inner and outer sills Luckily passenger side looks more solid but 1 side at a time!!

Drivers side interior sill

And get the grinder on the back panel, luckily not too bad!!

It'll be a few days before i do anymore , cant wait to get stuck in again though, talk of putting in new chassis rails on the back as the holes are a bit big and awkward to plate up! But the finished job will be alot better for it

You have to remove the fuel dont you? Doesnt bother me as i want to get underneath and attend any flakey rust that might be lurking and yes you guessed it paint it SATIN BLACK Im turning into a right bufty now and the amount of panels i've decided to replace its gunna be like having a brand new car. Really am desperate to get back working on it but was nursing such a dark hangover today after me The pig, olly my bro etc decided to get on it in town!

Today's job was to clean the underside and remove any flakes of rust and expose anything major! Jacked up and ready!

The very nasty looking underside I wonder what surprises it has instore for me?

Think i need a new fuel pump cradle, this ones riddled with gout!!

After an hours work!

Found anouther hole this time in the nearside chassis leg! Repairable thank god!

Opened up a whole new bag of worms and found all this indide!!!

So a new back panel is needed! Russ and i actually had the is it worth it conversation ! The result was YES just gunna cost me more time and more money . It seems the more you poke around and repair the more you reveal! Nevermind it'll all be worth it when its done!!

I know thats my sentiments exactly! Like i said to Russ who is doing all the technical stuff, "Although i keep finding more i have now nearly had a poke around the whole car so there really is almost nothing left to find! Do one job at a time and it'll be fine" the car is really a labour of love though.

Yeah dont worry the lights and glass etc will be coming out, just trying to concentrate on the main bulk of it at the mo. Should be having a start on the inner and outer sills on the 2nd of jan . So looking forward to some real progress on reconstructing the body
The wheel does need re-trimming but if your still interested p.m me a sensible offer and we can sort it

rs nutta: cant sell the wheel as its my brothers.
Mercury grey minter: Im in worcester.
Yeah the handles and badges are pricey but my originals are faded and wouldnt look right on new paint! My 90 spec spoiler is costing me £90 but i am assured it is mint with the bolts intact! Dont want to cut corners with it so im willing to pay a bit more for the right gear.
Thankyou everyone for your kind comments, glad of the support!
