Any common faults/places i should look for remedy?

it's quite straightforward as it's on a separate subloom direct to the battery.

there is a seperate fuse and relay somewhere under the dash on this subloom. could be either of those, or the switch or it could be not screwed on to the battery. or the screen itself may not be plugged on to that loom, or just buggered.

If it's buggered doesn't it normally fail gradually?

TurboShed yes, you get some lines of the thin wire broken leaving streaks in the demisting/thawing

Could be one of the timers or a fuse pete.

the timer is part of the relay iirc - it's a black one, quite big. just trace the sublomm back from the connections to the windscreen to find it under the dash.

on my lhd, it was kind of behind the removable panel on the passenger side behind the abs ecu

MY sapph lost the feed to the switch when igntion on so I just connected from rear one.
