Default JJ's M5 :D

Seriously cool car

jj Took a few of us out for a drive around a life sized off-road located replica of weston super mare last night (well it would be illegal to drive like that at the real one)

Never been in an M5 driven like it was nicked before, properly sideways round every roundabout etc

Proper bit of kit that, never realised just quite how much you could throw them around before, seriously impressed.

Proper funny race with a bloke in a modified skyline too, he was laying down the law about how to race, 2nd gear, side by side, windows down, then on his mark we both nailed it etc.

So we pull alongside him and he goes 3-2-1-(at this point could hear the turbo spooling where he had blatantly already floored it)-go
The m5 just gentley pulled away from his as he was flat out accelerating, most amusing, poor fella appeared like he got pretty upset, as despite still being early in the evening at that point he just left town after the race and wasnt seen again that night , and all with 300kg+ of occupant in the M5

JJ paid 16K for his but thats a particuarly nice example, you can get them for a lot less if you rent worried about it still being covered by the warranty etc.

Silly amount of car for the money.

Lots of fun last night!!!

I did love the look on the Skyline chaps face, he was truly gutted!!!!

No substitute for cc's!

Top night!

Chip, that mock up of WSM you made for me last night was truly first rate! very very realistic. However, you clearly got the angle of one of the bends a bit wrong. I only knew this because SiB clearly was working on the right line for the correct corner, which was completely wrong for your imitation!!!! PMSL

Long live the luckiest son of a bitch that ever drove an M3!!

I can only apologise to Si B for the innacurate reconstruction of the morrissons roundabout which led to him taking utterly the wrong line at totally the wrong speed and looking like he had no talent for rwd

You mean those brand new tyres?

Worse than this, Silver introduced me to a very very good road on the way home, where I nicked a kerb and dinked one of my wheels

Tyres were brand new, so they needed bedding in - um - so as to speak!!

Yeah - only a dink, but because the wheels are a special colour, more annoying than normal - Dink = 3mm on rim diameter.

I usually leave them as scars to prove the car is being used properly!

Doh! You are probably right. I am not good at this whole 'aloof' thing. If I see a Chav in a skyline, I react - else why bother buying expensive cars!?!

Not like the tosser in the E60 M5 in the petrol station yest who pulled up along side me, and totally refused to acknowledge me. What a plank!

Several reasons for buying an m5 or similar i guess:

You drive autobhans at 150mph+ a lot
You want to drive it hard
You want a status symbol (thats you phil, in your "phat gangsta ride")

For anything else, a fully loaded 5 series diesel is a better choice.

I dont do the first, i couldnt care less about status symbols, so only reason i would buy one is to use it the way JJ does

good lad! This one has justified it to me for ages!

PS - Bosch - I am very interested in your 'Mack 10' optional upgrade. I feel this is something I could make use of on the motorway. Is it available on the BMW range of cars as well?

For the same reason that people post on forums to people that they dont know (edited this cos I wrote something rather wrong here on first effort!!! Sorry dave, not intentional!

If a chap pulled in to the garage with an E34 M5, I would be interested in how he was getting on with it, and if he wanted to chat about how mine was to run compared to his, I would be only too happy to discuss it.

It is actually possible to communicate with people you dont know!

I was being rhetorical!

The point being that he does becuase he has common interests with people on the thread, so he makes comms (piss taking is also fine!)

Sorry - when I reread my thread, I realise it may have seemed like I was saying dont post here. Not what I meant at all. I was trying to say that it was no different to expecting the chap with the E60 to at least acknowledge me in my E39 M5 cos I would have done given the roles being reversed!!!!

I will amend the post slighlty to ensure no further missunderstandings!!

Thing is though, you have an M5 because you like them so much.

Possibly he just has one because he needed a new company car and thats what they gave him, it might be of utterly NO interest to him at all.

Difference is wether its "just a car" to him or not, if it is then its probably the same as when im in my daily driver mondeo i wouldnt take any interest in another mondeo driver either.

How many companies give their employees at any level M5's?!!!! Believe me, he knows what it is (especially when he reviews his tax code!!)

Dont get me wrong, its just that the new BMW Mcar owners have a certain attitude

TBH tho, depending on the mood im in, i dont want some random goon waving and putting thumbs up and talking to me, just cause i have a vaugely similar taste in cars as him.

When i was 18 (that was 3yrs ago, i swear ) and first got my GTT, other ones would wave and flash lights n shit, and for months i wondered who the FUCK these people were

Then i realised its a "car" thing.

And i still didnt wave back.

Wankers

Fair enough, though M5's are reasonably rare, and as such, it wouldnt trouble you that often!

Maybe its just me then

Thing is mate, its less of an enthusiast car than many, so most owners will just think your mad

Esp the newer ones, as im sure they dont appreciate the history or whatever like Cossie owners etc would.

Or maybe they unsociable wankers like i am when in a car

You may be right, though for clarification I didnt actually go bounding up to him asking for his life history - I simply smiled and nodded from where my car was, and he totally ignored me.

Maybe he thought I fancied him PMSL

cars like M5's, cossies, evos etc have a great habit of bringing people together, and even if its just a simple courteous nod at the lights, what does it cost??? it dosn't mean you have to race to the death, just a simple appreciation that you are both driving somthing a bit special
