Speedo cable..?
Was out in the Cossie last night and met up with a few boys off here, on the way home we had a wee blast, i can't tell you what speed we were doing....as my speedo stopped regestering
Any ideas? I'm hoping it's simply fallen out the back of the clocks but i know that really shouldn't happen
Cheers

they do break internally where they go near the turbo/downpipe - the heat dries the grease inside and then then snap - about half an hour to fix with a new cable - about 15 quid from ford IIRC...

a lil tip
remove the steering wheel to get the clocks out - othersie you will end up scratching the clear front of them - you need to try and push through as mush slack as you can from the engine bay side into the inside of the car as you are pulling it back so you can get your hand ni the back and unclip teh cable of the speedo drive on the clocks...

if you unhook it from the drive end you can feed it through the bulkhead
unclipping it from the speedo end just needs a little push, but make sure the cable comes out otherwise there is the possibility of grease and crap going all over the shop

sounds like the drive has come unlodged on the back of the clocks - mine did exactly the same when i refaced mine with the new birba fronts..
you'll have to remove the actual speedo clok and you will notice that the metal part right at the back it will quarter turn and locate properly in the plastic housing - problem solved.

sounds about right
the mileage direct drive (i think) and the speedo needle is controled by a little magentic disc on the back
either the spring has gone or the magnets have become dislodged
you can swap all the mechiicals over and still retain the correct mileage

Funnily enough thats what i have just refaced mine with, got them off speedy g ages ago but never got round to fitting em,got to say though it was worth the wait.
..top faces the birba, though i dont think they do em in mph any more, they are a bit fiddly to fit as well
