ive just bought my misses a 98 escort si and wandered whats different engine wise to a gti to get 15bhp

As far as I know... the engines are the same... HOWEVER... there were 3 different power rating 1.8 Ztecs...

I belive one was 105 another was 115 and the thrid was 120

so not much... not sure on the why though..

also just incase you didn't know...

Fairly straight forward to turn your SI into a GTI spec wise as the wires for the mirrors are there. Sun roof electric window I think isn't but again, is dooable. as for body kit... 10p a dozen i think

One of my friends had a SI that he had turned into a GTI all except the seats... very odd behaviour Good luck with it, GTI is how the escort should look

 

does anyone no anything about turboing a gti. in terms of doability and size of turbo

they did 3 different versions of the escort si

105, 115 and 130bhp

i have a 105 model and the only difference between mine and the 115 and gti engines is the ecu and throttle body (the 105 spec having the same tb as the 1.6 zetec)

so if you have a 115 spec engine the difference from a gti engine is absolutely nothing

the 130 spec models came in the cabriolets

 

if its a 98 1.8 si, then its the same engine as a gti
