The wife and i just watched it.
Will be interested in next weeks program.
As some of you know we had IVF again this summer and it didn't work this time
We are very lucky that it worked the first time and we have a 20month old girl
So for all those that are trying it can and does work
Steve.

here is my view, some may find it harsh but it's my views on the subject so hear me out:
right, some women can't have kids, end of, now, wether this is beause they just can't or don't have the bits or can't carry a child to full term or whatever other reason shouldn't mean that they shouldn't have kids
but once it's established that they can't have kids "normally" then the govt should try and work out the why's and whatnots, and if it's because they can't end of, then they should try to have kids but adobt
if they can ebcause they've got fully functioning bits then the govt should fork out a few quid to help them have a few goes at ivf
after that then it would be up to the individual but you can't put a price on having your own kid, i know i oculdn't and i was totalty devasteted when my amy had a miscarriage (that story is just so fucked up i don't think anyone other than me and her know so i'd rather not go into that) but we still "celebrate" that baby on his/her "birthday"
there is always the surrogate mother angle and there are always adoption and fostering angles to consider, but i believe that there is no way you can have a "right" to have kids in the same way that they can't (debatably) stop 12 year old girls from having kids
once there was a time when all this embryo lark was a work of science fiction, but now it seems that people are tkaing it to the next level and it's the amount of money you have that goverens how well your child will develop
there was a film about this a while ago, i think it was called gatica, where you were only allowed to have kids if you were of a certain breeding, wrong wrong wrong
your kid, even if it was born with 5 heads and 3 legs, would still be your kid, and i for one would still love my kids for being my kids, not becuase i thought they would become a film star or design the next space ship or become a jedi
ok, gone a little off the topic here, but yes, if you can have kids, fine, if you can't, you should be able to give up at some point rather than fill the world with 70 year old women who have triplets and won't be around to see them in their first christams play

btw, one of my mates has spent close to Ł40k on ivf over the past few years, and, as much as i love him as a mate, i couldn't ask him to give up to his face
and one of my neighbours is still trying for another baby after her 7th miscarriage and i couldn't bring myself to tell them to not bother either
no matter how my views may be percevied in the above post
