Default Is my ABS fooked on the MR2?

Whenever I have had to slam on (once or twice!) in the MR2, it seems to just lock up and slide like it's on ice. Is this because my ABS is knackered or is it more because it's got shit tyres on it?

Any ideas folks?

No matter what tyres u got, the ABS should sense wheel is locking up and trigger ABS. Sounds like your ABS is Kaput mate though u should have a warning light on if its not working!?

Does the ABS light come on when the igition is on, then go out one car is running?

Jay - has it actually got ABS? Joking aside, not all of them do.....

Secondly at low speed, it's quite easy to lock them up with crap tyres on.... and I told you to get em changed!

Aye Pon I know you did, not had time

Can't remember what's on it Rhys, but never heard of 'em

Pon, when I turn the ignition on I'm certain there's an orange ABS light that comes on, and then it goes off again.

You sure, cos that could well be the engine management light......

Can't stress the importance of those tyres mate, especially in this weather...... will also transform how the car handles....

I actually had a very strange experience the other day where I was driving round a carpark at about 5-10mph and as I turned a corner the back just slid out. How I didn't hit anything I don't know. Just reacted quickly and counter steered and slammed on to stop

Not sure that's down to the tyres though as it's never done that on the road. Think maybe I hit a patch of diesel or something.....

Can't do anything with the tyres until next month around the 15th now as I've spent my expendable cash for this month

I'm almost certain it says ABS on that light though Pon...
