Default cosworth , rocker cover gasket prob

As aboe , got my rocker cover powdercoated and ive not had the car that long really , but previously on removing it , i was shocked to see no gasket fitted

Anyway fitted new gasket on fittting rocker cover , and my problem is , where number 4 spark plug is (at back of engine) is filing with oil ? like the 4 areas around it if you know what i mean car runs fine and has done for the last week and a half that its been back on road ~?

Took of rocker cover and cleaned oil up and took plug out gave a check and im ready to put rocker cover back on now ?

Any ideas ? the gaskets still in place and to me looks ok ? it is a new gasket from woodford

any tips or ideas people ?

You mean the spark plug recess filled with oil? Same thing happened to me, don't know why but about a week later my engine needed a rebuild, hope you have better luck!

Think so mate , its the 4 bits that sit around where the plug sits ?

Why did this result in a rebuild mate ? what happened ?

I'm guessing the rebuild was a coincidence, I never did find out why the oil was getting where it was, presumably a failing gasket in some way or other.

Could be that your cam cover is not flat as when things are powder coated they are put through a oven this can twist objects because of the heat better of getting it skimed then you wont have any probs mate

or try a cometic gasket? These being thicker with the foam each side of the alloy main construction may allow for any distortion problems on your cam cover.
