Mk3 Rwd Fiesta Cosworth
Hello all
Well as title really, got myself a mk3 1.1 fiesta pritty cheap (£175) was pritty good condition for a h reg fiesta, little bit of rust around the rear arches and thats about it (belive it or not the fuel filler was perfect
)
well got it home, stripped it down in the evenings after work, in the mean time i bought myself a 1.8 sierra estate. I bought the sierra so i could cut the rear floor and tunnel to pop into the fiesta
With all the floor and tunnel ready to go into the car we (myself and fiestawallin) cut part of the floor from the fiesta so that the floor of the sierra (which holds the rear axle/suspension set-up) could fit where the fiesta floor was removed from, after a while of getting it all lined up we welded the floor in place (to get this part of the floor welded in properly took a week or two)
While welding the floor in i was on the look out for my power source, sure enough i found a decent package of parts which included a complete 2wd cosworth engine, gearbox, engine loom (sadly no ecu) rad, intercooler, coil, and quite a few other parts
After a day of getting the engine home i had the engine and box in the car, be it only sitting on wood blocks. Couple days later i had the engine on its frame all bolted up in the car (made some special mounts for the frame to bolt to)
With the engine bolted in it was time to start on the tunnel, tried the complete tunnel (straight from the sierra) in the fiesta just to see what parts of the tunnel i didnt need, in the end i had to cut the tunnel in 4 places to get everything to line up (gearbox mount, propshaft mount)
Now with the tunnel in place and tacked in it was time to weld the whole of the tunnel on the inside of the car. Couple weeks had this sorted, with the tunnel all welded in it was time to pop it on its side and weld the bottom but sadly at this point i lost motovation and really lost interest in the poor old girl
Well the fiesta sat in another garage for about 4-5monthsi got the motovation back to try and get her completed so good news a month ago i pulled her out and popped her in my main workshop and work started fairly soon, with the car now on its side a couple evening this week ive finished nearly one side of the tunnel.....
Instead of more text i'll let the pics do the talking
Poor old girl when i got her

Sierra floor in the fiesta

Engine all in bolted in place

That isnt ment to be there!!

As it is now

Plans are body wise, i have a full psg wide arch kit (rs turbo/xr2i style bumpers), mk4 fiesta boot and rear lights, fiesta turbo bonnet and a set of escort cosworth wheels.
I dont want it to in your face sort of job just to stand out alittle bit.
p-38-king - its lying on the rear seats at the mo so no damage is done to the paint work

Im about 20-30 miles from launceston on the north cornish coast
The sleeper look would be quality but ive already got a psg wide arch kit so might aswell use it.....
Once new year comes around will have to start buying more parts, but at the moment ive got enough welding to do to keep me going for a while

Right a little update, havent done much on her as ive been rather busy with other things.
Put it back down on its flat got a bit bored with the grey tunnel and red front so i got the spray gun out along with some nice red paint.
End result

Looks so much better now.
Also ive come across i tiny problem that the crossmember is too far forward to get the front wheels in the middle of the arches so ive got to cut the xmember brackets out and move it all back about 3-4 inches.
Which means the engine has to have its own mounts to the chassis rails (like the wrc cars) and that also means the sump has got to be modified.
Nothing to major though.........
Dont know if anyone can help me now???
Im after a engine wiring loom diagram for a 2wd cossie engine? (Got a friend checking the loom over)
Also the connecter on the loom to the ecu isnt the best so i could do with a new one, anyone know where i can get one from?
Also after a picture if anyone has one of the engine mounts on a wrc cossie??
Cheers Ben

Think i can manage to make a mount like that...
My msn addy is uglow45@hotmail.co.uk
Is there anywhere that you can buy these connectors brand new? Or will i have to find a decent second hand one?
