Big up for Jim Galbally :top:
Took me for a quick blast in his new 24v toy. Have to be honest and say I wasn't expecting much from it. My God was I wrong!
It pulls like a fookin train train and sounds awesome. The torque is available so low down and just keeps pulling all the way to the limiter.
I can honestly say I can see it having no probs with a Stage 1 Cossie. Very very impressed.
Cheers Jimbo mate
I need to return the favour at the next one

Not joking at all
The torque it had was available so low down the rev range and held all the way round the rev counter. I honestly beleive it would give a stage 1 Cossie a real run for it's money.
Don't get me wrong I love the Cossie and if I could talk the missus into it would have one tomorrow. My point in the post was that a lot of peeps were calling it a shonky V6, I wasn'nt expecting as much from the car as it delivered and my blinkers have been removed by the experience.

For sure Switch once the speeds climb it may be different. The Cossie will have lag and it's the lack of that that lag that impressed me so much and the instant wave of torque that would have my money put on it. Ok so maybe a stage 1 car is stretching it a bit far but I bet it would be a lot closer than most people would think. Get Jim to take you for a spin at the next meet and you'll soon see where I am coming from.
Oranoco, My stage 1 cossie setup makes 300lbf t torque at 2800rpm? It has near zero lag so is in a different league to the V6 24v.
I admit the V6 will be better around 1000rpm to 2500rpm but who drives their car in that range anyway !!! ROFLOL
Typically if you take pops car as an example 5.0 secs to 60, 12.5 to 100, 157mph top end? Not much contest is there!

ive been in pops car and its not a slow car
, but then everyone knows that as hes always in front
whats most stage 1 saph times like
oh and pops car has soooooooooo much wax on it, it helps the aerodynamics for it too

LOL @ Bernie, what are you trying to imply?
I've driven enough cars fitted with the 24v V6 to know how it compares to a stage 1 YB engine and theres no contest, other than when going to sainsburys to do the shopping. (i.e. VERY low rpm)

well i went out with jim on friday, and was most impressed with the car
but i can honestly say it wouldn't stand a chance against a normal stage1
thats not to say the car wasn't good,as it was.nice and smooth and everything
ol and karl, damp times and only hitting 6.2k,so loads more than that left in the old girl

LOL, anyway must'nt forget to say good luck to Jim with his new car, hope it all goes well for him!!
Aye the 24v does thump along quite nicely, (driven a couple of mk2 escorts with them fitted) and they give the perception of being quick because of the low down torque. However when put against the clock its a totally different matter!

guys guys please stop arguing over it
cheers for the kind words guys
however i wouldnt expect it to beat stg1 cossies if both were driven properly. however give it a few weeks and i hope itl be a different story
and karl as for 0-60 times i know of at least 2 that have done proven low 6es 0-60 and also remember that the cars have to be in THIRD gear to get to 60mph, unlike a cossie that can do it in 2nd, so you gotta add in the gearchange time there too
i'd like to point out that mine will be running at the fordsport national weekend at the beginning of august and i hope to get some decent times down (ive got a whole weekend to get the launch right... lol) so hopfully then we'll know... also i'll probably get it RRed at engine advantages at some point in the next month too so you can see a power figure.
altho lets remember the main thing... i'm perfectly happy with the car and it's performance
if its slower than a cosworth... i dont care

tiff its RWD using a MT75 gearbox from a 12v 2.9 manual granada and 4x4 cossie rear diff.
here's some decent piccies i just took:

needs some snapped clips on the skirt replacing near rear jacking point cover

needs towing eye cover... got one that needs paint ready to fit

mmmm, heated seats SOOOOO nice!

its not really pink, just bad lighting
ps i need a cossie rear bumper for her (pm meif ya got)

Jim, your target is 5.0 secs then for pops, or 5.38 secs for tiff, both done at brunters on a damp day!
Reckon you'll beat that?
What about top speed, reckon you'll crack a genuine 150mph @ brunters?

You can't get away from the maths of power to weight ratio, and I didn't know one of the numbers for comparison.
You working today mate? Or like me at home?

I will have to leave the Head to Head at the Pod for Popeye to do
By the way, if the clocks read 170mph you wont be doing that

6200rpm revlimit, 4x4 cossie ratios, 205/45/16... you work out the top speed
