Hi guys and gals

Been a member of the site for quite a while now and have a good gander through regularly, but don't post that much, so hello!!

Anyway, my girlfriend has an N reg 1.1 hcs mk3 fiesta, it has covered 56k miles. It has failed the MOT on emissions as the carbon monoxide (CO) level is twice as high as what it should be!!

The lambda sensor reading on the MOT printout was normal. Does anyone know if there is any sort of adjustment that can be made to lower this CO level? As I understand it the fuel mixture is too rich. If the lambda sensor is giving an ok reading, could it still be that it is knackered, and a replacement would be necessary??

Any help would be much appreciated

exhaust blow before the cat would cause high co.

post up the readings so we can have a look. you can test the lambda sensor eaier enouth

ok cool cheers mate, i don't think it can be blowing, as it did not fail for it on the mot!! I'll get the readings up when i get home.

here's the printout from the mot sheet, only thing i have noticed though is that it says engine size 1300, whereas its only an 1100. Could this make a difference?

I've got the same car, same reg, engine size etc and the MOT tester revved the hell out the engine for some time to get mine to pass. He joked that it passed because it ran out of oil. Shortly after that i blew a piston ring and burnt a hole in my valve - different cylinders - still ran for a couple of thousand miles in that condition, drank the fuel though These engines are crap, but i'd try the lambda sensor. Fits disceetly in your pocket when you are at the scap yards If that doesn't work, try bribing your MOT tester I find whisky works well

could it be the lambda sensor tho? its giving the lambda readings as ok.
