Hi just looking for some help with a few hose problems i have with my 3dr...
my car is totally standard, and i have just purchased a group A K&N filter, it fits lovely but the hoses that went to the air box have no where to go.. the is a big ish hose that comes from the inlet manifold, and 2 smaller hoses from the amal valve (i think thats what its called) i currently have the big hose and one of the small hoses covered with a tight and held in place with a cable tie, and the other small hose cable tied so there is no leak to the atmosphere... hope this all makes sence to you lot... the car runs fine and smooth..
can anyone shed any light on this for me please, as i'd like to know what to do with the hoses
thanks in advance

the biggish one is the outlet from the breather system - needs to be either put into engine inlet, or vented to atmosphere (with some way to catch all the oil that comes out).
there should only be one small hose from SEM valve to airbox - this must be left open to atmosphere, otherwise the ecu has no control over boost
there are 3 in total to that boost control valve - one from compressor housing, one to actuator, and the 3rd to air box (atmosphere is ok).
hope that helps

cool, thanks for that mate..
i got i wrong what i said.. the big ish one ish going to atmoshpere, with a tight over the end, the small one from the SEM valve has also got a tight over the end of it, and the other small hose is the one that goes to the re-circulating dump valve which has been removed.. this has has the end bent over and cable tied up..
what can i do rather tahn buying a bling bling breather system?? want it to look as factory as possible but loose the tights obviously... what would happen i take off the small hose thats cable tied up??

the one that went to the dump valve must remain blocked
the other 2 that were originally to the air box must be opened up to atmosphere or put back into the inlet before compressor. you will have big problems if they are not.
the small one from the SEM valve is easy. just remove the hose completely and leave the port open at the valve itself.
the breather is normally dealt with by piping it to a catch tank of some kind - if you have removed the airbox, you can put in one that is a mirror image of the coolant header tank. most people who like things to look bling use a polished alloy one or some such crap.
bodgers have been known to just pipe it to a coke can or something, or i have even seen a plastic bag
personaly, i would have kept the air box with guide air duct and plate between intercooler and radiator and put a k&n panel filter in it

AS GROUP A CARS ONLY EVER USED A LARGER KEVLAR VERSION OF THE STANDARD AIR BOX WITH A PANEL FILTER FITTED YOU HAVE DEFINATLY NOT GOT A "GROUP A AIR FILTER".
THE TERM GROUP A IS USED FAR TO LIBBERALLY AND SHOULD BE BANNED.
