Default FAO Stu @ MDev

Evening Stu

Ive recently bought a 306 XLDT as a run about.

Dont want mega power from it, but I heard you can do stuff to it to increase power and improve economy?

Can I have some numbers please, price, power increase and how long you would need the car for? Also is it worth doing?

Cheers matey

Had a read of 'remapping.co.uk', is there a chip swap I can do, or is it best to get the full remap?

Is boost increased slightly on the remap, or just the chip and setup suffices?

Thanks for the replies, apart from u sapphymike u coont lol, I know his number but as he frequents on here, I thought Id ask the question

Category 1: Mechanical TDi
This engine can achieve good results, typically up to 30 BHP and 30% more torque, however, due to the mechanical pump not being controlled to very close tolerances when initially accelerating, some smoke may have to be tolerated while the turbo is producing initial boost. A free flow air filter will help this problem a lot.

On this type of system we can modify the diesel pump timing and fuel delivery along with an increase in boost pressure to match the extra fuel. This will give much improved throttle response and mid range torque.

Example:
Peugeot 306 D Turbo (intercooled)
This vehicle gains approximately 25 Bhp and 31 Ftlb of torque, giving this great little car hot hatch performance.

Its also worth noting that these improvements are on a vehicle giving perfect factory power already. If your vehicle is out of tune and down on power, you will gain more power than stated.

The cost of this work is Ł250 inc vat.

It's not a Live Map in the sense that Stu needs to completely rewrite the map for different injectors etc, where he needs the car for a week minimum. It is done live though - as in all the monitoring equipment is attatched to the car and it is driven to check everything.

Call Stu, he'll happily tell u everything u need to know.

AFAIK - the Pug Turbo Diesel engines require the fueling & boost increasing mechanicly as they do not operate from an ECU - the HDIs however do.

After the fueling etc tweaking you should see about 115bhp & a hefty increase in torque too!!

I'm sure Stu will verify all this!!

Hin Stu,
The pump is indeed mechanical and Andy quote sums it up nicely pal.

Category 1: Mechanical TDi
This engine can achieve good results, typically up to 30 BHP and 30% more torque, however, due to the mechanical pump not being controlled to very close tolerances when initially accelerating, some smoke may have to be tolerated while the turbo is producing initial boost. Its also worth noting that these improvements are on a vehicle giving perfect factory power already. If your vehicle is out of tune and down on power, you will gain more power than stated.

The cost of this work is Ł250 inc vat.

It takes approx 4hrs to do mate.
