Took the Astra to Donington today for the spares show.
Got there about 10.30 put my Tom Tom in the glove box and all the bracket so to look like l didnt have anything worth stealing. Came back to car about 1.30. Helen said you didnt look the door checked glove box Tom Tom missing. Had a look around the car to see how they got in and found a big fuck of hole by the drivers door near lock
Cant belive they targeted a standard looking family car
So really had a f...... shit day

No excuse, but isnt the fact that you can take it with ya the whole point....
Same as the people who have face of stereos and leave them in the glovebox, but again im not excusing it....
By the by they look for the rings left on the front screen and the fact that 99% people leave them in the glovebox makes it very easy for them to make a quick buck...

thats the trouble, you park your car in the carpark, you go and enjoy the show and you come back and your cars been broken into, its about time that they put cctv in the carpark or at least have people walking around
so they can catch the scum
so they can catch the scum

It's not all Beemers, Merc's and "presitige" cars getting broken into you know! The "family/normal" car gets broken in to FAR more than any other car - mainly cos there are FAR more than other types of car.
Also because they are less likely to have alarms and the like. Did you Astra have an alarm?

Well the reason we took the Astra is so we did not have to take the Cossie. As i think the Cossie would have attracted more attention
I personally never thought of the rings on the window, but i guess we have learnt our lesson there, the replaced Tom Tom will be going in my bag from now on.
I dont think Dave is a fool as you put it, as tbh we took the Astra so i would not have to panic all day having the Cossie parked out there.
Hindsight is a great thing eh, but as i said earlier, if we had taken the tom tom with us, would still have come back to a broken into car.
So cant fucking win really eh ?

Helen - quite possible that a Cossy would attract more attention than an astra, but what I was getting at was the
"Cant belive they targeted a standard looking family car"
I can't belive people think like that!

EXACTLY mate !
I've always gone to Spares Day but recently, the amout of aggro at Donno has put me right off.
And the activities at National Day with cars getting nicked etc..
Until people take a stand and just stop attending events the organisers will not sit up and do anything about it.
They make their money... and the only losers are the punters....
Not what enthusiasts shows should be about.
Yum the problem begining you may have taken the sat nav down and put it in the glovebox but a would be theif can see you got it because of the mark the suction pad leaves behind assuming its window mounted..most seem to be.
The people who make these Sat Nav's should give you a security key that you have to insert or touch against it when you turn it on.
If not every 1 minute it says 'I AM STOLEN' in a loud voice.
Then it would make them less nickable.

Rally bad news Dave..sorry to hear about that- its not just the tom tom but also the expense of repairing the damage of course....
i suppose on the up side - Its lucky they didn't press the 'Navigate to home' option and burgle the house while you were out

Sorry to hear about this....its so sad that these things happen. I was on a stand with my car today and had to have eyes everywhere, some people were lingering far too long round my car today i was very unsettled as some people were reading the tax disc to see where it had come from as id put show plates on and removed number plates, and people always look with their hands NOT their eyes......pisses me off big time!!!
The theiving was also in the main hall as a message came over the tannoy mid afternoon warning all traders that thieves were operating.....sad times to be in England lately.

Wankers, I was going to go but had too much to do to waste a day, have been going for years but recently have taken the van as the last thing i want to be doing is worrying about the car all day. It's the same with all the big shows , if the car is not on a stand infield I either go in the van or don't go.
Too many posts.. I need a life!!
