My mate has a cav turbo and is spending money getting new parts in like intercooler, intercooler piping, wants a new ECU and up the boost.. all that's fair enough but:

he never drives it! everytime you're in the car with him it's so annoying. He'll get to the point where you can just about to feel the turbo spool up and then <gear change>. Why spend to much money on a performance car and not drive it?!

This is what he said "i know my car's fast so i don't need to drive it fast"..

All his newly acquired ned pals have Renault 5 Turbos, Nova Turbo's etc but they're all the same, "my car's so fast i don't need to drive fast"

Is it me or does it not make sense?.. they might as well whip the turbo's out their car and give them to me!

It's like sayin'.. "oh aye i bought this designer rain-jacket at £500 but i don't wear it when it's raining coz i know it'll keep me dry"

Anyway it isn't logical to me and i just want ot know if i'm a weirdo/stupid/insane/aff-ma-heed!

 

you do tend to find that people with fast cars dont always drive them fast,... i'm sure he's given it beans on a few occasions

My mates used to whinge at me for not thrashing my cossie everywhere, but they seem to expect it to be flat out everytime you are in it (like how they drive their Saxo's/Corsa's) But just because I don't rag it round town/the local boyracer spots it seems i'm a pussy behind the wheel

jealousy? naw.. i've had my fair share of newer/faster cars, Civic VTi, 300zx, i don't like spending money on them keeping them pure tiptop condition and getting pissed off when someone scratches my wing i.e. you with your toolbox. I'd rather have an old motor that's in good condition but nothing special that i'm soo damned fussed about.

As for my projects? i don't brag about them coz, well they're not worth bragging about. And as for finishing them, well we'll see...

project "rebuild and up the boost so i know it's faster but i'll never know coz i wont go fast" sounds like an uunfinished project to me.

Sole reason I bought another RST was cos I enjoy boosting it - and I don't even NEED a car FFS - I ONLY bought it to have fun with.....

But whats the point in spending money and speccing an engine right up and then never use it? Thats the same as getting a 1.2litre Saxo and loading as much ICE and bodykit parts onto/into it as you can

True, I don't drive my car fast EVERYWHERE, but then I only drive it when I want fun - and I must admit - the faster the cars I own get, the less stuff I race (ie: in my 1st car - 1.1 Uno - I tried to race everything 3i most things, 1st RS, not a lot, this RS - ain't had a race yet ) but I get my kikcs from deserted roads or at least quite roads and jsut boosting the coooont up

Now run back off and go sit in your lil CHAValier Turbo - since you won't dare turn the key soon

 

Well my Cossie is that fast i havent even took it out of the garage for a year cos i dont have to prove anything cos its that fast !!
