Default Winter Gremlins !!!

Out in the car tonight and pulled away from a junction, car just cut out silently as though id stalled it. Went to fire her back up but she just turned over witthout firing up.

Managed to get her pushed into side of the road and left her for 5 mins. Tried again, the same, not firing up. So decided to leave her for a couple of hours as it was just down the road from my flat.

Went back to her with some fuel incase fuel gauge was faulty which i very much doubted and it was showing half full. Put a fivers worth in. Still the same not starting. Opened the bonnet had a wiggle with the battery/immobiliser wires, coil connection and a final wiggle were the wires go through next to the fuses. Nothing felt loose.

Get back in the car and boom shes going ?

But, my stereo, dash and interior lights are flashing like mad ? Sounds elctrical ?

Im totally baffled as to what the cause was and not keen on it happening again !!!

Any ideas what caused it or what i could do to prevent it again ?

The cars a bliss in the summer but when winter hits the little gremlins creep out

p.s. it has been pissing it down here, coudl it be damp ?

Did the car turn over slowly when you tried to re start it? I had an XR3i a few years ago that did something fairly similar, it was spinning over at normal speed but wouldnt fire. I left it for a few mins an it started again. It done this to me several time in half an hour and then the dash lights went off, clock, radio etc. I got it home and checked the battery with a multimeter and it wasnt charging so it got a new alternator and battery and was mint, never missed a beat. Might be worth tryin? Kwik fit or any local garage should be willing to check it for you for free. Good luck with sorting it mate.
