That's a bit odd?? Windscreen excess is usually a seperate amount, about £80?

I fit these for a living lol....

Yeas they are bonded and unless you know what you are doing and have the correct tools, and most importantly, the glue you ain't getting that screen out or a new one in

But if your fully comp and have windscreen cover (which you do) the excess is gonna be either £50 or £60 - it is not the same excess as your CAR excess mate - neither does it count towards your NCB if you claim for one....

What ins co you with?

craig you dont need to tell the insurance dude
just ring up any windscreen firm getting them to fit a nice new one ( with a top tint ) and all you do is give them your insurance details
end off, well thats what i did when i wanted a nice new one

As pops said - you don't need to contact the ins co at all.... Thats why I asked what ins co you was with

Autoglass do 90% of insurance companies on direct billing (Admiral, Elephant.co.uk and a couple of others we don't do - Autowindscreens do those ones I think)

Basically, either phone up 0800 36 36 36 and they'll sort you out - make sure you have your certificate of insurance with you, or jsut pop into your local branch (with certificate) and they will sort you there and then (is usually better to go into a branch and see the office staff, as they are usually ex-fitters, and have fitters on site, so know what you want and what they are talking about where as the 0800 lot are all student muppets that don't know a windscreen fomr the hole in their ass )

Being a Saff - what you want to get is a Green with green top tint - basically the top tint is a darker shade of green than the rest of the glass (mk1 Sierra - 3dr - top screen is a bronxe with blue top tint) or see if they can get hold of a green with blue top tint one - they look

The part number you are after is

3543AGN (plain green screen)
3543AGNGN (as above with green top tint)
3543AGNBL (as 1st one with blue top tint)

Or if you got heated jsut add an H on the end (ie: 3543AGNBLH )

Now tricks for getting better spec screen if you only got boggo fitted.... Just tell the office guy or 0800 bird what screen it is you actually want, as if it is the one you got, don't say it is green but I want with top tint or heated etc....

If you want to go heated so you can fit the loom at later date, then say it is a heated one, the fitter will come out with a heated one, then probably tell you yours ain't heated so he's gona get a non-heated it and come back later - tell him don't worry bout it, you'll have it anyway as your gonna sort the heater contacts later - makes no odds to him he still gets paid and the ins still pay the extra for the heated one, not you
