Spiky, go to a decent post office (not one in a field somewhere ) & tell them you want to tax your car but cant find the logbook & you should'nt have a problem as they'll tell you what forms to fill out etc althou jamz is right, you do have to pay now for a replacement V5

Just have to pay for new tax & backdated tax for example if the tax ran out end of july then you'd have to pay for new tax (obviously) & for the months that the car has been untaxed.

Listen to your woman will you!!!!!!!!!!

You CANT tax anything without either the tax reminder or the log book anymore. If you have lost it you cant fill in a form anymore, you must send away and wait for it to come (usually takes about 3 working days).

However babe, you didnt tell me you had the old one........... if you've got either the blue bit or the green bit of the V5 then you can tax it with that

keep all your docs in the car (cept logbook obviously) including a form from the postoffice pre-filled in, AND a cheque ready to pay for it (dated same day) n keep it in glovebox...

if old bill pull you, theyd have to be right wankers to actually do you for it

dont worry about cameras, as when you get your tax it'll be backdated anyway

If you really wanted to cover your back, ring the DVLA now and order a new V5 over the phone with your card.

Then if anything does happen whilst driving it on SORN, they know you did apply for the log book ready for taxing, whereas at the moment if you got caught driving they'd do you right back to when the car first went on SORN and a fine on top.

the V51 (the tearoff green bit) is sufficient...

dont fill it in unless they ask you too at the post office

If you still cant get it sorted I could always come pick you up tonight in the Escort (if it'll make it that far lol) but you'd have to get a lift back to wales after Colas party as I really dont think the Escort would make 2 trips to Wales.

Is there anywhere at all on either the blue or green bit where it'll let you write your name and address on it? (ie the big white boxes)

If so........... you can use that.
