Just to answer the topic title question, the reason why we refer to some high performance cars as "sleepers" may be because the term "sleeper" was used in the cold war era (60's/70's and early 80's) to describe a spy or agent who would blend in amongst the population and not be noticed. He or she would live a normal life with an assumed name or identity.

Sned-boy: yours would be a sleeper if the outside looked Ford factory style. As it is modified, then NO, it is not a sleeper. Yours is more of a "surpriser". (Just made that name up btw...
