British supercar maker Ascari reckons it's got an answer to the 789bhp Ferrari Enzo FXX -- except that its new, limited edition A10 is road-legal, costs about one-third as much at £350,000 -- and that a comparison with the £172,000 611bhp 6-litre-powered 599 GTB Fiorano might be more apposite if Ferrari customers are the target market.
Designed, engineered and hand built in Banbury, the 625bhp A10 is essentially a reworked version of the well-received KZ1, criticism of which centres on its high price. Ascari counters that this keeps it exclusive.
The A10 weighs around 1,200kg, thanks to its lightweight carbon fibre bodywork. Reaching 60mph in 2.8 seconds and 100mph in fewer than six seconds, the manufacturer claims the A10 is the fastest road going production car around a race track.
Only 10 are available and will be built to order.
The A10 is more than just a revamped KZ1, said Ascari, which has found success in its first year of competing in the GT3 in 2006. It has new body panels, a reworked engine and suspension, with extensive brake modifications to cope with the extra power. Owners will also benefit from optional luxuries such as remote central locking, electric windows and door mirrors, climate control and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm system.

Neil - guess whats on my christmas list
