what year is the car mate??

if its an older one, isnt it worth only going third party fire and theft as if you do have a bang, chances are they will write it off anyway and give you peanuts back :S

Ditto with Chris,

FC on an old car worth 20p and walnut whip is pointless.

When you say "unlimited modding" what exactly do you mean?

And what exactly do you intend to do to the car?

Judging by your sig text the only outside and mechanicle mods are a back box and alloys - strut braces, and maybe you are goning to put an XR bodykit on it?

All the other stuff (stereo, steering wheel, gear gaitor etc) don't really come under "chargeable" modifications (least they never have with my cars when I insured them) so is it really worth this unlimited modding thing?

Any other insurance co would expect and allow for back boxes, alloys, even an XR kit anyway.....

And TBH, is it worth plowing possible thousands into a 1.1 Fez in loads and loads and loads of cosmetic mods (jsut cos the ins say you can) but ignore the engine?

If I was you lad, I would insure it TPF+T for as cheeeeeeeep as poss, go for a nice set of rims and drop it down 35mm too, maybe even fit the back box (please god NOT a Peco ) and leave it at that and save your cash for when you got a couple of years NCB so you can jump up the perfomance ladder and get something with a little go in it

Thats what I did - slummed it in a Fiat Uno 1.1 for first couple of years then ditched it for a mk4 XR3i - and tell ya wot - getting out of a 40bhp 1.1 into a 105bhp 1.6i is a HELL of a difference..... Trust me
