Default are escos and sierra cos lowering springs different?

i took what i tought were the standard ford springs out of my escort cosworth so i could lower it with some sierra cossie -60mm lowering springs that i have because its very high, but sized the springs i took out(which are blue) against the sierra -60mm spings and theyre the exact same!

now i know that the sierra springs will slam a sierra very low so are standard escos springs from ford very low to start with, and would -60mm escos springs be 60mm lower again.
and my escort is defenitly standard height because theres about 70mm between the top of the tyre and the arch

any advice or experience with this problem would be great, its got me stumped and any suppliers or garages ive talked to dont have a clue
